Which 2024 Passport trim should you choose?
The lineup has three trims. Their core powertrain, standard AWD, EPA estimates and listed maximum towing capacity are the same, so the choice is primarily about comfort and appearance equipment versus the TrailSport’s trail-focused hardware.

EX-L: the comfort-focused starting point
The EX-L is not a bare-bones trim: leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, a moonroof and power tailgate are among its standard features. It suits buyers who want the Passport’s space and AWD without the TrailSport’s off-road equipment or the Black Edition’s additional comfort and appearance features.
TrailSport: the choice for rougher routes
TrailSport is the only trim specified with an off-road-tuned suspension and all-terrain tires. Honda says the suspension tuning was revised for articulation and off-road ride quality. Its published unladen ground clearance is 8.1 inches, the same figure listed for the other trims, so the stated case for TrailSport is its suspension and tire setup—not greater published clearance.

Black Edition: more comfort and a distinctive look
The Black Edition adds appearance details and amenities such as ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel and premium audio. It does not bring a different engine or drivetrain.
How much can a 2024 Honda Passport tow?
Honda lists a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds for each U.S. trim. That is a published maximum, not assurance that every Passport can tow that amount in every configuration or circumstance. Check the owner’s manual and the vehicle’s setup for applicable towing instructions and limits.

What is the gas mileage on a 2024 Honda Passport?
Honda reproduces EPA estimates of 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined for EX-L, TrailSport and Black Edition. The estimate is identical across trims. Actual fuel economy can vary with driving, maintenance and conditions, as Honda notes in its 2024 pricing and EPA ratings release.
How much cargo space does the Passport have?
Honda lists 41.2 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second row and 50.5 cubic feet maximum behind the second row for EX-L and TrailSport. With the 60/40-split second-row seats folded, the listed volumes vary by trim and measurement configuration:

All versions seat five. Honda’s specifications list both figures for folded-seat cargo capacity rather than a single number; consult the model specifications when comparing measurements.

Yes. Every U.S. 2024 Passport trim has Honda i-VTM4 AWD, paired with the 3.5-liter V6 and nine-speed automatic. The trim names and specifications here apply to U.S.-market vehicles; Honda’s information center states that its model information covers U.S. vehicles only.

Safety and driver-assistance equipment
Honda lists Honda Sensing on all three trims. Its listed features include:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System with Forward Collision Warning
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Road Departure Mitigation with Lane Departure Warning
- Adaptive Cruise Control
The equipment list also includes Blind Spot Information, Cross Traffic Monitor, front and rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, a multi-angle rear camera, stability control, ABS, brake assist, airbags and LATCH child-seat anchors. These are manufacturer-listed features, not an independent crash-test result or rating.
What changed for 2024?
Honda says the 2024 Passport received a wider center console with expanded storage. The TrailSport got revised off-road suspension tuning, and the Black Edition joined the lineup at the top, replacing the former Elite position. Honda also highlighted Genuine Accessories such as underbody protection and an additional HPD package. The manufacturer described the updates in its 2024 Passport announcement and 2024 improvement and accessories release.
