Before matching an XLT to a trailer, establish the exact vehicle’s rating and equipment, then compare those limits with the trailer’s loaded weight and tongue load. Check the truck’s certification information and confirm the engine, drivetrain and tow package on its original sticker. Do not assume that an XLT without verified tow equipment has the advertised maximum.

Cars.com’s historical XLT listing prices the Trailer Tow Package at $495 and describes a Class IV receiver with 4-pin and 7-pin wiring. It lists an Advanced Towing Package at $825, including the Trailer Tow Package plus brake-controller and Pro Trailer Backup Assist equipment. An Advanced Towing Package Plus Technology Package is listed at $2,305 and adds camera and driver-assistance items. These are listing-specific prices and package descriptions; verify the truck’s original sticker because availability and contents can depend on configuration.

Cars.com lists 1,729 pounds for the 4WD V6 XLT configuration shown in its listing. That is a configuration-specific secondary-source figure, not a payload value to apply to other XLTs. Use the individual truck’s doorjamb payload label, and do not treat the maximum payload and towing figures as simultaneously available.
