Its 200-hp turbo engine is paired with a six-speed manual, rev-match control and a helical limited-slip differential, while its EPA rating is 31 mpg combined. That combination favors driver involvement and everyday usability over a headline-grabbing power figure—but buyers who prioritize outright acceleration or certain comfort features may want to look elsewhere.
What the Civic Si’s 200 horsepower does—and doesn’t—tell you
Honda’s U.S. model-year specification sheet, dated August 9, 2023, lists a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four producing 200 hp at 6,000 rpm and 192 lb-ft of torque from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm. The engine has a 6,600-rpm redline. Those are manufacturer specifications, not a promise of a particular acceleration time. Honda’s model information is a starting point for current details; the original figures below describe the 2024 U.S. model.
Car and Driver’s comparison puts that output in context: it lists 241 hp for the Volkswagen Golf GTI and 276 hp for the Hyundai Elantra N. Those figures make the Civic Si the less powerful choice among the three, but horsepower alone does not capture how a car engages its driver, how it puts power down, or how it fits daily use. The figures reflect the review’s comparison, not a current, trim-by-trim market comparison. Car and Driver’s Civic Si review
How the manual and differential shape the drive
Six-speed manual with rev-match control
The 2024 Si is front-wheel drive and comes with a six-speed manual transmission and rev-match control as standard. Honda also specifies a lightweight single-mass flywheel. Together, those details point to a car designed around driver participation rather than an automatic-transmission option. Honda’s U.S. specifications

Helical limited-slip differential
A helical limited-slip differential is also standard. It is a meaningful part of the Si’s performance equipment: the car’s appeal is not simply the engine’s output, but also the hardware intended to help manage power at the driven front wheels. The specification confirms the equipment; it does not establish track durability or a measured performance gain.
Suspension and ride character
Honda lists MacPherson-strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. Car and Driver describes the standard setup as taut yet smooth and steady, praising the car’s fun-to-drive character. That is the reviewer’s assessment, not an instrumented measure. The same review identifies unavailable adaptive dampers as a drawback, so drivers seeking adjustable suspension should factor that into their decision.

Fuel economy and everyday equipment
Honda’s launch materials list EPA fuel economy of 27 mpg city, 37 mpg highway and 31 mpg combined. The specification sheet says regular unleaded is required, with premium recommended. These are EPA ratings and manufacturer guidance, not a guarantee of what an individual driver will achieve.
Car and Driver reported 37 mpg on its 75-mph highway route, but that result came from its test of a mechanically identical 2022 Si—not a newly tested 2024 model. Its instrumented 0–60 mph time of 6.6 seconds likewise came from a 2022 Si. The publication said that result was 0.7 second quicker than the manual-equipped Civic hatchback it also tested. Treat both as results from those specific tests, not as independently measured 2024 figures. Car and Driver’s Civic Si review

- Factory Fresh 3/10
Honda’s feature sheet lists Honda Sensing equipment including collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation and blind-spot information with cross-traffic monitor. It also lists a three-mode drive system. These are manufacturer-stated features; driver-assistance systems do not replace attentive driving. Honda Civic Si features
Where the Si gives up ground
Car and Driver’s review identifies limited horsepower and the absence of heated seats among the Si’s drawbacks, alongside the unavailable adaptive dampers. Its praise for the manual and standard equipment sits alongside those compromises: the Si is not the choice for everyone simply because it has a sporty badge.

Consider the Si if a standard manual, rev-match control, limited-slip differential and a comparatively efficient EPA rating matter more than maximum power. Consider alternatives such as the Golf GTI or Elantra N if you want more horsepower, while checking the precise trim, transmission, comfort equipment and price for the model you are shopping. The available comparison does not establish a current, complete side-by-side cost or equipment analysis.

Factory tire size for replacement shopping
Honda specifies 18-inch matte-black alloy wheels with 235/40R18 91W all-season tires, and lists a tire repair kit. Use that size as a model-specific starting point when shopping for 235/40R18 all-season tires, then verify the exact vehicle fitment and the tire’s load and speed ratings against the product listing.
