These comparisons establish trim names and starting prices, but not a complete trim-by-trim standard-equipment list. For a particular vehicle, check its window sticker or a Ford document tied to its VIN rather than assuming that a feature is included based on trim name alone. Today’s used price will vary with location, condition, mileage and seller; the original MSRP is not a guide to current market value.
Engines and performance
The Ford Division’s 2024 Explorer order guide, dated October 16, 2023, lists a 10-speed automatic transmission and three engine options. The 3.3-liter V6 is a fleet-only option, not a general retail engine choice.

Ford’s order guide says EcoBoost horsepower and torque ratings are based on premium fuel under SAE J1349 and that results may vary. The 2.3-liter is the listed engine for five trims; the 3.0-liter V6 supplies the higher output in the ST, King Ranch and Platinum. The fleet-only 3.3-liter should not be treated as a typical retail configuration.
Towing capacity depends on configuration
Ford’s 2024 Explorer Towing Guide lists capacities that vary by engine, drivetrain, axle ratio and gross combined weight rating. It includes 3,000-pound ratings for certain 2.3-liter setups, 5,300 pounds for qualifying 2.3-liter configurations, and up to 5,600 pounds for specified 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 configurations.

Do not apply the highest figure to every 2024 Explorer. Confirm the exact vehicle configuration, tow package and applicable rating in Ford’s guide before choosing a trailer or towing equipment. A trim name or engine alone does not establish the correct capacity.
Seating, features and owner information
Cars.com describes the 2024 Explorer as seating seven. The available source material does not establish cargo dimensions or passenger-space measurements by trim, so verify those details against a specific vehicle if they determine whether it will fit your passengers or gear.

Ford publishes a 2024 Explorer Quick Reference Guide for model-year-specific owner information. For a manual or operating instructions, look for Ford’s reference material corresponding to the 2024 model rather than relying on documentation for the redesigned 2025 Explorer.
