The 2024 BMW M3 Sedan range has three standard configurations: a 480-hp manual with rear-wheel drive, a 510-hp Competition with an automatic and rear-wheel drive, and a 530-hp Competition with an automatic and M xDrive all-wheel drive. Those figures come from BMW M’s European-market 2024 model page. The 543-hp M3 CS is a separate limited-edition model; BMW announced it for the U.S. market.

BMW M’s 2024 model page lists the following specifications for the sedan range. Its horsepower, acceleration and fuel-consumption figures use European-market conventions; they should not be treated as U.S. EPA ratings or U.S.-market specifications.

BMW says the consumption figures follow WLTP and can vary with equipment and country. They are not EPA estimates. BMW M’s 2024 M3 model page provides the specifications and market qualification.
2024 BMW M3 vs. M3 Competition: what changes?
M3 Sedan: manual and rear-wheel drive
The standard M3 is the only one of the three regular sedan configurations listed with a six-speed manual. It pairs that transmission with rear-wheel drive and BMW M’s European-market rating of 480 hp.

M3 Competition: automatic and rear-wheel drive
The rear-wheel-drive Competition switches to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and is rated at 510 hp on BMW M’s European page. It retains rear-wheel drive rather than adding xDrive.
M3 Competition with M xDrive: automatic and all-wheel drive
The xDrive Competition uses the same type of eight-speed transmission and is rated at 530 hp on that page. BMW lists selectable 4WD and 4WD Sport modes; with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) switched off, the driver can select 2WD. That makes it the all-wheel-drive choice, while also allowing a rear-drive mode under the stated conditions.

What is the 2024 BMW M3 CS?
The M3 CS is a distinct limited-edition model based on the M3 Competition with M xDrive, not a fourth regular configuration in BMW M’s three-car 2024 comparison. BMW’s U.S. announcement specifies 543 hp from its inline-six, an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission, and a 0–60 mph time of 3.2 seconds. With the standard M Driver’s Package, its electronically limited top speed is 188 mph.
BMW described CS-specific weight-saving and performance equipment including carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) exterior and interior components, standard M Carbon bucket seats, a titanium rear silencer, and CS-specific chassis tuning. BMW reported an approximately 75-pound reduction compared with the M3 Competition with M xDrive. M Carbon ceramic brakes and track-oriented tires were options identified in the announcement, not standard equipment.

BMW Group PressClub USA announced a U.S. MSRP of $118,700 plus $995 destination and handling for the 2024 M3 CS. That is the announced price in BMW’s January 24, 2023 release, not a current used-market value. BMW’s M3 CS announcement includes the model details and pricing.
What changed on the 2025 BMW M3 announced in 2024?
BMW announced a 2025-model update in May 2024, with production phase-in scheduled to begin in July. These are changes for the 2025 model, not equipment or output to assign to a 2024 M3.

BMW’s May 29, 2024 U.S. release listed 2025 base MSRPs of $76,000 for the M3, $80,200 for the rear-wheel-drive Competition and $85,300 for the Competition with M xDrive, each before $1,175 destination and handling.
