The 2024 BMW F 900 GS is the off-road-focused standard model in BMW’s middleweight F GS range. Its 895 cc parallel twin makes 105 hp, and BMW redesigned the bike around lower weight and off-road use. The F 900 GS Adventure is a separate, more touring-oriented model; its equipment and dimensions should not be mixed with the standard GS.
What is the 2024 BMW F 900 GS?
BMW positions the F 900 GS as a middleweight adventure motorcycle with a stronger off-road emphasis than its touring-oriented F 900 GS Adventure sibling. The 2024 model replaces the F 850 GS with a larger engine, revised chassis and a redesigned rear section. BMW says the new bike is 14 kg (about 31 lb) lighter than its predecessor, attributing savings to changes including a plastic fuel tank, revised rear section and Akrapovič rear silencer.
BMW’s global launch material describes the Adventure as a companion for shorter and longer-distance touring on and off road. It is a distinct variant, so compare its own market-specific specifications and build rather than assuming the standard F 900 GS’s weight, fuel capacity, seat, wind protection or equipment apply.
Engine and performance
The liquid-cooled, 895 cc four-stroke parallel twin produces 77 kW (105 hp) at 8,500 rpm and 93 Nm (68.6 lb-ft) at 6,750 rpm. BMW says the engine grew from 853 cc and uses a 270/450-degree firing interval. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance-test results.

BMW UK says its road-ready weight follows EU Guideline 168/2013, includes operating fluids and assumes the fuel tank is at least 90% full. Fuel consumption and CO₂ are WMTC figures, not promises of real-world economy or range.

Chassis and off-road equipment
The standard F 900 GS has a fully adjustable 43 mm Showa upside-down front fork, according to BMW’s launch material. Its 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, long suspension travel and off-road-oriented ergonomics suit rougher terrain better than a road-focused setup, while the 870 mm UK-listed seat height is a practical consideration for riders who need to put a foot down frequently.
BMW describes the bike’s cockpit and controls as revised for off-road riding, with enduro footrests, hand protectors, an aluminum side stand and an adjusted foot-brake lever. The Enduro Pro package adds upgraded suspension and handlebar risers; those items are not standard on every bike. Check the exact market and build sheet before treating package equipment as included.

Hand protection and accessories
BMW USA describes plastic hand protectors as standard and offers optional Enduro hand protectors with metal brackets. BMW UK lists accessory categories including luggage, tank bags, engine guards, adjustable foot-brake levers, handlebar risers, a high windscreen and ConnectedRide Navigator. Confirm exact 2024 fitment and compatibility with the bike’s trim before buying an accessory.

Its specification and equipment are deliberately oriented toward off-road riding: a 21-inch front wheel, substantial suspension travel, adjustable Showa fork, enduro footrests and off-road-focused controls. The optional Enduro Pro package is the more specialized setup for ambitious off-road use. These features explain BMW’s intended use; they do not establish how the motorcycle performs in a particular rider’s hands or terrain.

For a real comparison with another adventure bike, use like-for-like market and build data: road-ready weight measured on the same basis, suspension adjustment and travel, seat height, wheel and tire setup, fuel capacity and independently verified range, wind protection, luggage, and which rider aids are standard versus optional.
2024 U.S. launch price
BMW Motorrad USA announced a U.S. launch MSRP of $13,495 plus destination for the F 900 GS on January 23, 2024, with the market launch estimated for early Q2 2024. That is historical launch pricing, not a current dealer quote, used-bike value or estimate of what a specific motorcycle costs today.
Recalls and checking a specific motorcycle
A model-year description cannot establish whether an individual F 900 GS has an open recall. BMW’s U.S. recall lookup accepts the full 17-character VIN or its last seven characters and returns vehicle-specific results. BMW notes that records can take up to 30 days after recall work is completed to update. In other countries, use the regional BMW recall service; BMW Group says recall or technical-update work carried out by its partner is free of charge.
