The LX and EX were rated at 192 hp; hybrid models at 204 total system hp. Original MSRP ran from $27,295 to $37,340 before destination, while EPA combined ratings ranged from 32 mpg for the turbo trims to 48 mpg for the EX-L Hybrid.
2023 Accord performance and powertrains
Honda’s published specifications distinguish the Accord’s two gasoline-only trims from its four hybrids. These are manufacturer ratings, not independent acceleration, braking, or road-test results.
LX and EX: 1.5-liter turbo
The LX and EX use a 1.5-liter direct-injection VTEC turbo engine with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Honda rates the engine at 192 hp at 6,000 rpm and 192 lb-ft of torque from 1,700 to 5,000 rpm. Honda’s 2023 specifications list the same output for both trims.
Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and Touring: hybrid
All four hybrid trims pair a 2.0-liter direct-injection Atkinson-cycle engine with Honda’s two-motor hybrid system. Honda lists 146 hp for the gasoline engine, 181 hp and 247 lb-ft for the traction motor, and 204 hp for the system as a whole. Component horsepower figures should not be added together: total system output is a separate rating.

Honda says the 204-hp figure uses the ISO measurement standard. Under that standard, Honda lists the 2022 Accord Hybrid at 202 hp, making the 2023 figure a two-horsepower increase by this measurement. Honda also describes the hybrid as capable of EV operation under certain conditions and lists Sport, ECON, and Individual among its four drive modes. Its overview describes steering-wheel deceleration selectors for adjusting regenerative braking and a motion management system that adjusts deceleration based on steering input; these are manufacturer descriptions, not independent handling findings. Original 2023 U.S. prices and EPA fuel economy
Honda announced these prices and EPA ratings on May 17, 2023. MSRP excluded tax, license, registration, destination, options, and color upgrades; the destination-inclusive prices below add Honda’s $1,095 destination charge. Dealer prices could vary. These are historical model-year launch prices, not current used-car values.

The figures are Honda-published EPA comparison ratings, not a guarantee of mileage in everyday driving. The EX-L Hybrid has the lineup’s highest listed combined rating at 48 mpg; the Sport, Sport-L, and Touring hybrids are rated at 44 mpg combined. Honda identifies 17-inch wheels for the EX-L on its official Accord model page; no cause for the EPA-rating difference is established here. Honda’s EPA fuel-economy comparison also lists ratings by trim.
Turbo versus hybrid: what changes?
The turbo LX and EX have lower original MSRPs and the same EPA rating. Hybrid trims cost more at launch, provide higher quoted total system horsepower, and carry higher EPA combined ratings. The right comparison depends on the trim and equipment as well as the powertrain.

- Choose by original price: the LX started at $27,295 before destination; hybrid MSRPs began at $31,345 for the Sport Hybrid.
- Compare fuel economy by exact trim: hybrids are not all rated alike. The EX-L is listed at 48 mpg combined, while the other three hybrid trims are listed at 44 mpg.
- Do not infer total ownership cost from MSRP and MPG alone: a cost comparison also depends on annual mileage, local fuel prices, insurance, financing, maintenance, depreciation, location, and vehicle condition.
2023 Honda Accord photos
Honda’s official 2023 Accord model page includes a photo gallery with vehicles labeled by trim and color. Examples include an LX in Lunar Silver Metallic, a Sport-L Hybrid in Radiant Red Metallic, and Touring Hybrid examples in Urban Gray Pearl and Canyon River Blue Metallic. Keep the trim and color in each caption: a photo of one configuration should not be presented as another trim or as evidence that every Accord has the same equipment.
Honda’s press kit also lists downloadable vehicle and powertrain images. Check the current asset terms and permissions before republishing official imagery.
