The 2022 Yamaha MT-07 pairs a 689cc CP2 parallel twin with a compact naked-bike chassis. Yamaha’s US brochure lists an original MSRP of $7,899, plus a $430 destination charge; that historical new-bike price is not a current used-market valuation. The model-year update is easy to spot by its compact LED projector headlight and revised bodywork.
2022 Yamaha MT-07 specifications
Yamaha describes the MT-07’s liquid-cooled, DOHC, fuel-injected 689cc inline twin as tuned for low-to-midrange torque, linear throttle response and strong high-rpm pulling power. The CP2 engine uses a 270-degree crankshaft concept. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not results from an independent road test.

US brochure figures are for the US-market motorcycle; European output figures and the restricted version apply to the European factsheet’s market context. Do not treat those output figures as universal specifications. The US brochure defines wet weight as including standard equipment and fluids, including a full tank. Its 58 mpg figure is an estimate, not a claimed real-world result or an independently measured test.
Yamaha Motor Europe says the MT-07 has sold over 125,000 units and claims it has been the top-selling Hyper Naked each year since its 2014 launch. These are manufacturer claims; the factsheet text does not display a publication year for the sales statement, and the ranking claim should not be read as a current, worldwide independent sales ranking.

Original US price of the 2022 MT-07
Yamaha’s 2022 US brochure lists an original MSRP of $7,899 for Cyan Storm, Team Yamaha Blue and Matte Raven Black, plus a $430 destination charge. The brochure says MSRP excludes tax, title, preparation and destination charges, and that dealers set actual prices. These are original suggested-price figures for the US model year, not present-day prices or an estimate of used-bike value.
For a used example, compare local listings rather than relying on the old MSRP. Consider mileage, condition, service history, title status, modifications and fees when judging the total asking price.

What changed on the 2022 Yamaha MT-07?
Revised front styling and LED lighting
The 2022 bike has compact bodywork around a compact LED projector headlight with a distinctive Y-shaped face and twin winglet-style air intakes. Yamaha also specifies LED position lights and turn signals. The negative-display multifunction LCD instrument cluster is another identifying feature.
Wider tapered handlebars
Yamaha describes the aluminum tapered handlebar update differently by region: its European factsheet says the bars are 15 mm wider on each side, while the US brochure calls them 32 mm wider and 19 mm taller. Keep those market-specific descriptions intact rather than combining them into a single universal measurement.

Brakes and suspension
The US brochure lists larger dual 298 mm front discs and standard ABS. It also specifies a 41 mm telescopic front fork and a link-type rear shock with preload and rebound adjustment.
Photos and visual identification
Yamaha’s 2022 US brochure and European factsheet include official model imagery. Such images show the manufacturer’s model presentation; they do not document the condition or exact configuration of an individual used motorcycle. The listed US brochure colors are Cyan Storm, Team Yamaha Blue and Matte Raven Black.

For a specific used-bike listing, request clear photographs of both sides and close-ups of the controls and display, tires, brake discs, chain and sprocket, fork seals, frame, engine cases, VIN and title documentation, and any modifications. Photos can help identify visible issues, but they do not replace an in-person inspection and title check.

The US brochure’s 406 lb wet weight and 31.7-inch seat height give useful reference points for handling the bike at a standstill and assessing fit. The owner-manual specifications list a maximum combined load of 377 lb for rider, passenger, cargo and accessories. Treat that as a total limit, not a cargo allowance.
