Ford’s 2023 Ford GT announcement centers on the GT Mk IV, a track-only final edition—not a street car. Ford said it would build 67 hand-built examples, with a starting MSRP of $1.7 million and a specially engineered twin-turbo EcoBoost engine targeting more than 800 horsepower.
What does “2023 Ford GT” mean?
Ford’s December 9, 2022 announcement described the Ford GT Mk IV, a track-only car developed by Ford Performance and Multimatic as the most extreme final version of the Ford GT. That is the specific 2023 GT configuration covered here. The available Ford information does not establish a separate street-going 2023 Ford GT specification.
Ford’s general Ford GT page lists a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 rated at 660 horsepower and a carbon-fiber body, but those family-level details do not establish the specifications of a separate 2023 road car. They should not be combined with the Mk IV’s power target as if Ford had announced two verified 2023 trims.
Is the 2023 Ford GT Mk IV street legal?
No street use is established for the Mk IV: Ford explicitly calls it track-only. That description applies to this edition; it should not be extended to other Ford GT configurations without model-specific evidence. Ford’s announcement does not establish road-registration eligibility by jurisdiction.

What makes the Mk IV different?
Ford’s announced Mk IV specification combines a race transmission, a longer-wheelbase chassis, a carbon-fiber long-tail body and Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve (ASV) suspension. Ford’s product page describes the transmission as bespoke. Together, those features reflect the car’s stated track-focused purpose; they are not evidence of everyday-road equipment or usability.

Ford announced a limit of 67 hand-built cars, to be assembled at Multimatic’s facility in Markham, Ontario. The number commemorates the original GT Mk IV’s Le Mans win in 1967.

What did Ford announce about applications and delivery?
Ford’s December 2022 announcement said the application process would begin with the announcement, client selections would be confirmed in the first quarter of 2023, and deliveries would begin in late spring 2023. Those were announced plans; the cited Ford materials do not verify whether deliveries were completed.
