The 2022 Shelby Ford F-150 Raptor was a Shelby American-modified Ford Raptor, not Ford’s later Raptor R. Shelby’s January 20, 2022 announcement described a 525-horsepower truck with 37-inch off-road tires and listed a starting MSRP of $124,820, including the truck. That price is historical, not a guide to today’s used-market value.
What is the 2022 Shelby Ford F-150 Raptor?
It is a Shelby American package built around the latest-generation Ford F-150 Raptor. Shelby announced the truck for the 2021–2022 model years on January 20, 2022. The announcement identifies a 525-horsepower vehicle, but does not provide a year-by-year output table. Its reference to “75 more horsepower” describes the 2021 Shelby Raptor; it should not be treated as a separate verified output figure for every 2022 truck. Shelby American’s announcement is the primary source for the package details and historical price.
What equipment did Shelby add?
Shelby’s announcement lists exterior, suspension, lighting, wheel-and-tire, and cabin changes. The release describes equipment as standard, though individual used trucks should be checked against their build records.
Chassis, wheels and tires
- FOX Live Valve suspension and a BDS suspension lift, named in the release’s performance-upgrade section.
- Six 18-inch Shelby alloy wheels with 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 tires.
- Steel front and rear bumper systems, with power steps incorporating rock sliders and lights.
Exterior and lighting
- A Baja Raptor hood with intake and extraction vents, plus a Shelby grille insert and badging.
- A 30-inch curved front LED light bar, additional driving lights and rear lights.
- A bed-mounted chase rack with spare-wheel mounts and a 50-inch power-actuated light bar.
Engine and cabin
- A V6 EcoBoost performance upgrade listed with a high-flow intake filter, oversized intake tube, aluminum intercooler and heat shield. Shelby also names tuning in its performance-upgrade section.
- Shelby leather interior, embroidered floor mats, carbon-fiber accents and billet racing pedals.
Shelby Vice President of Operations and Chief Designer Vince LaViolette called the suspension the company’s “best” to date and highlighted the tires, bumpers and lighting. That is Shelby’s promotional characterization, not an independent comparison or test result.

What did it cost when announced?
Shelby listed a starting MSRP of $124,820, including the truck, in its January 2022 announcement. That is a historical announced MSRP; it does not establish current new-vehicle availability, a used truck’s value, or what a particular buyer paid. Current asking prices and surviving inventory are not established by the announcement.
How is it different from the Ford F-150 Raptor R?
The Shelby Raptor is a Shelby-modified Raptor. The Raptor R is a separate, later Ford model. Ford described the 2023 Raptor R as having a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 rated at 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque. Those figures apply to Ford’s 2023 Raptor R, not the 2022 Shelby package. See Ford’s 2023 F-150 Raptor R announcement for the factory model’s details.

What should you check before buying a used one?
Shelby said these trucks were offered in limited quantities through select Tuscany and Ford dealers in North America and that each vehicle received a Shelby serial number documented in the Shelby Registry. A serial number alone does not establish a specific truck’s current condition or prove that all advertised equipment remains installed. Verify the individual vehicle and its records.
- Match the identity. Ask for the Shelby serial number and build documentation, then confirm the number and records with Shelby or an authorized dealer. Do not assume a listing is authentic based only on badges or seller wording.
- Compare the build with the truck. Check the equipment, modifications and any changes since delivery against its documentation. Pay particular attention to suspension, tuning, wheels, tires, lighting and bumpers.
- Review condition and support. Inspect the truck and request service history, warranty information and records for post-title work. The 2022 announcement does not establish warranty coverage for a specific used vehicle.
- Assess fit for your use. Consider the truck’s tire and suspension configuration, the terrain you expect to drive, and the consequences of replacing or servicing modified components.
- Compare like with like. Set a current used asking price against other current used trucks—not against the 2022 announced MSRP—and compare documented equipment, condition, support and provenance.
Can you replace its 37-inch BFG KM3 tires?
The announcement identifies 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 tires but does not give an exact size code or establish fitment for every truck. Before buying replacements, read the size on the vehicle’s tire sidewall and confirm compatibility with its wheels, clearance and configuration. A nominally matching tire description alone is not a fitment check.

Is the Shelby package worth choosing over a regular Raptor?
There is no objective winner established by the available specifications. The Shelby package’s appeal depends on whether its documented equipment and modifications suit your priorities and justify the specific truck’s asking price, condition and support. Compare an individual Shelby truck with a regular Raptor using the same price basis and close attention to provenance, vehicle configuration and service records.
