The 2022 Nissan GT-R is the R35 supercar built around a hand-assembled 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6, a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive. In the familiar Premium specification, Nissan quotes 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque; the NISMO version raises those figures to 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft. Exact equipment, grades and pricing depend on the market, and Nissan’s located U.S. material does not confirm a 2022 model-year MSRP.
What powers the 2022 Nissan GT-R?
Every R35 GT-R uses Nissan’s hand-assembled VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6. The engine drives a paddle-shifted six-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the ATTESA E-TS all-wheel-drive system uses an independent rear-mounted transaxle. This layout separates the transmission from the engine and helps the GT-R manage traction without relying on a conventional front-engine, front-transaxle arrangement.

| Version | Power | Torque | Published Nissan specification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | 565 hp | 467 lb-ft | U.S. specification quoted in Nissan’s 2020 press kit for the 2021 GT-R; the same core R35 power figures are the appropriate published reference for the 2022 Premium. |
| NISMO | 600 hp | 481 lb-ft | Nissan’s U.S. GT-R NISMO specification in the same press material. |
Nissan does not establish a single worldwide 2022 specification sheet in the supplied material, so these figures should be read alongside the market and trim shown on a particular car.

NISMO
The NISMO is the track-focused flagship. It adds carbon-fiber body components, NISMO RAYS wheels, NISMO-tuned suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes and Recaro seats with synthetic-suede inserts. Its 600-hp engine also produces 481 lb-ft of torque, giving it a different performance brief from the 565-hp Premium rather than simply adding appearance equipment.
T-spec and Track Edition T-spec
Japan’s 2022 lineup was explicitly described as two limited grades: the GT-R Premium Edition T-spec and the GT-R Track Edition Engineered by NISMO T-spec. The Premium Edition T-spec received an exclusive interior, bronze RAYS forged-alloy wheels and suspension changes that take advantage of reduced weight below the springs. The Track Edition Engineered by NISMO T-spec combines the Track Edition’s engineering direction with T-spec-specific equipment.

Nissan Australia’s 2022 NISMO announcement also describes high-precision, weight-balanced piston rings, connecting rods, crankshaft, flywheel, crank pulley and valve springs. Nissan says those components are intended to sharpen rev response and turbo spool. They are a mechanical distinction, not a claim of a separately published acceleration time.

How much did a 2022 Nissan GT-R cost?
A confirmed U.S. 2022 MSRP is not provided by the Nissan material available for this model. The closest official U.S. pricing reference is Nissan’s 2021 release:
| 2021 U.S. reference grade | MSRP | Destination and handling | Qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| GT-R Premium | $113,540 | $1,695 | 2021 model year; before applicable tax, title and license fees. Dealer transaction prices can differ. |
| GT-R NISMO | $210,740 | $1,695 | 2021 model year; before applicable tax, title and license fees. Dealer transaction prices can differ. |
Those numbers are reference figures, not a verified 2022 U.S. price. They should not be presented as the 2022 MSRP, and they do not establish used-market values, dealer premiums or prices in Japan, Australia or any other country.

2022 Nissan GT-R photos: how to identify the car
Trim identification is essential when labeling a photograph. Premium, T-spec and NISMO cars can differ visibly in wheels, brakes, aerodynamic parts and interior details.
- Premium: look for the standard 20-inch RAYS wheels, road-focused bodywork and leather-appointed cabin.
- T-spec: Japan-market examples use bronze RAYS forged wheels and have a distinctive interior; the exact exterior color and equipment depend on the limited grade.
- NISMO: identify the carbon-fiber aero pieces, NISMO wheels, larger brake hardware and Recaro-style cabin treatment.
- NISMO Special Edition: use the edition name in the caption rather than calling the image a base Premium.
Nissan’s official brochure imagery is useful for comparing the Premium exterior, infotainment system, wheel and brake details, engine-bay badge and NISMO cockpit. Nissan’s GT-R gallery provides NISMO Special Edition display photographs, while Car and Driver’s gallery covers the 2022 T-spec, its heritage paint colors and Track Edition/NISMO-derived equipment. Captions should state the market, trim and edition shown.

Which 2022 GT-R is the right one?
Choose Premium for road use
The Premium combines the full GT-R drivetrain with the broadest standard comfort equipment and the lower published output. It is the logical choice when daily usability, long-distance comfort and a less specialized setup matter more than maximum factory track hardware.
Choose NISMO for factory track hardware
NISMO is the choice for buyers who specifically want 600 horsepower, carbon-ceramic braking, NISMO suspension calibration, carbon-fiber bodywork and Recaro seating. Its higher reference price reflects substantial hardware changes rather than an engine tune alone.
Choose T-spec only after checking the market
T-spec is a limited regional grade, not a universal 2022 trim. Verify the country, production specification, wheel package, interior and suspension equipment on the individual vehicle before comparing it with a U.S.-market Premium or NISMO.
