It has a 120-hp engine, front-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission (CVT), with published fuel-economy estimates of up to 33 mpg city and 41 mpg highway. It can make sense as an inexpensive commuter if its modest rear-seat space, basic cabin and individual condition suit your needs.
What is the 2022 Hyundai Accent?
For the U.S. market, 2022 was the final model year for the Accent, Hyundai’s smallest sedan. Cars.com identifies the latest U.S. generation as 2018–2022; this model-year information does not establish availability in other countries. The 2022 Accent is therefore a used-car choice, and its original sticker prices should not be confused with current used-car values. Cars.com’s 2022 model overview and Car and Driver’s 2022 review provide the model-year context.
What are the 2022 Accent trims and original prices?
Cars.com lists three U.S. trims. These are original starting MSRPs for the 2022 model year, not present-day asking prices.
| 2022 trim | Original starting MSRP (U.S.) |
|---|---|
| SE | $16,645 |
| SEL | $17,900 |
| Limited | $19,600 |
Used prices depend on location, mileage, condition, equipment and vehicle history. Compare local examples with similar model year, trim, mileage and condition rather than treating an original MSRP as a current valuation. Cars.com’s model page lists the trim names and historical starting prices.

What engine, transmission and fuel economy does it have?
Every 2022 Accent uses a 120-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, front-wheel drive and a CVT, according to Cars.com. The manual transmission was dropped for 2022. Cars.com reports EPA estimates of up to 33 mpg city and 41 mpg highway; Car and Driver reports 36 mpg combined. These are published estimates, not a guarantee of real-world mileage. Car and Driver says it had not conducted its own 75-mph highway fuel-economy test for the newer powertrain.
What equipment does the Accent include?
Cars.com describes the 2022 Accent as a five-seat, front-wheel-drive sedan. Reported standard equipment includes cloth upholstery, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and power locks. Available equipment includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a moonroof, heated front seats, push-button start and automatic emergency braking. Availability depends on trim and configuration, so confirm the equipment on the specific car rather than assuming every Accent has it. Cars.com’s 2022 overview summarizes the equipment.

- Rear-seat space: Reviewers flag a modest back seat. If you regularly carry adult passengers, have them sit in the car before buying.
- Cabin and refinement: Reviews describe basic interior quality and note engine or road noise and ride compromises. Car and Driver calls the engine unrefined.
- Loaded ride: Cars.com says the ride suffers when the car is fully loaded, another reason to test it in conditions close to your usual use.
The Accent is a more natural fit for a commuter who prioritizes economy and simple transportation than for someone who needs generous passenger room or a quieter, more refined cabin. Review a Cars.com overview and Car and Driver review, then assess the specific car in person.
Is the 2022 Hyundai Accent reliable?
The sources cited here do not establish a population-level reliability rating or a new study of long-term durability. A site’s consumer ratings and owner reviews are not enough to treat a small sample as proof of how reliably the model performs overall. For a used Accent, focus on the condition and records of the individual vehicle, and have it inspected before purchase if you need an assessment beyond its paperwork.

What should you check before buying a used Accent?
Compare the car’s condition, mileage, service and title history, equipment and asking price with similar local listings. Inspect how it drives and whether the cabin, rear-seat space and noise level work for your use. Confirm that the vehicle has the safety and infotainment features you want; availability varies by trim and configuration.
- Match the listing to the car’s actual trim and equipment.
- Review available maintenance records and title history, and compare mileage and condition with similarly equipped local cars.
- Check that the vehicle drives and rides acceptably with the passengers and loads you typically carry.
- Use the vehicle-specific owner’s manual for maintenance and fluid specifications, and confirm replacement-part fitment for the exact vehicle.
Hyundai Motor America’s 2022 Accent Owner’s Manual is the primary reference for operation, maintenance and fluids. It warns that fuels or lubricants that do not meet Hyundai specifications can cause severe engine or transmission damage. The manual also discusses Hyundai Genuine Parts and states that damage caused by imitation, counterfeit or used salvage parts is not covered under Hyundai warranties; that statement should be read within the manual’s stated scope.

What should you compare it with?
Cars.com names the Kia Rio and Nissan Versa as competitors. Rather than assuming one is better, compare similarly aged cars with similar mileage, condition and equipment. Look at purchase price, fuel economy, passenger and cargo space, active-safety and infotainment features, comfort and noise, and documented maintenance and title history. Local inventory and prices change, so a useful comparison requires current listings in your area. Cars.com’s model overview identifies the competitors.
