By contrast, GAC’s June 2022 Saudi launch release describes a 2.0T GDI gasoline engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The available sources do not establish one powertrain as universal across all countries or trims.
What engine and transmission did the Saudi-market GS8 have?
In its June 9, 2022 release announcing the Saudi launch, GAC MOTOR said the all-new GS8 launched in Saudi Arabia on June 6 with a 2.0T GDI engine producing 400 Nm, paired with a third-generation 8AT. A separate regional specification PDF also lists a 2.0TGDI engine and AISIN 8AT, but its publication date and applicability beyond that regional specification are not established. How many seats does the GAC GS8 have?
GAC’s current global GS8 page describes a seven-seat layout, one-touch electric folding seats, and what it calls leading third-row space. It also claims maximum luggage capacity of 1,859 L and more than 30 storage spaces. These are current manufacturer-page claims; they do not establish that every 2022-market trim had the same layout, capacity, or seat-folding equipment. What safety and driver-assistance features are listed?
The current global page advertises 27 active safety features, L2 driver-assistance systems, and 540-degree parking assistance. These are GAC’s descriptions, not independent test findings, and the page does not prove that the features came standard on every 2022 GS8 or in every market. Confirm the equipment list for the exact country, trim, and model year. The available sources do not establish an independent crash-test rating, independently measured fuel economy, or independently verified performance result.

GAC describes the GS8 on its current global site as a “mid-to-large intelligent SUV”; its 2022 Saudi release called it a “high-tech, full-sized SUV.” Those are GAC’s market descriptions, not evidence of a single regulatory size classification shared across countries.
