The 2022 Ford Focus does not have one universal specification: the engine, equipment and body styles described here are for Ford of Europe, and other markets can differ. To identify the right specifications, owner’s manual or parts for a particular car, check its market, trim, body style, engine, transmission and build date—not just its registration year.
What the 2022 Focus specification depends on
Ford of Europe announced an updated Focus range on 14 October 2021. Its engine and technology details are European-market information, not a global specification for every car registered as a 2022 Focus. Equipment and availability also vary by trim and configuration. Before comparing cars or ordering parts, identify the vehicle’s market and the equipment actually fitted.
For a specific car, use its VIN or vehicle documents and confirm:
- Market and trim
- Five-door hatchback or wagon body style
- Engine, including whether it is a 48-volt mild hybrid
- Transmission
- Build date
European-market engines and transmissions
Ford’s 2021 European announcement listed the following non-ST engine options. These are manufacturer-announced configurations, not confirmation that every combination was offered in every country or trim.

The EcoBoost Hybrid is a mild hybrid, not a plug-in hybrid or an electric car. Ford described a 48-volt belt-driven integrated starter/generator that recovers energy normally lost during braking, stores it in a dedicated lithium-ion battery and can provide torque assistance. The announcement does not describe the car as capable of electric-only driving.
How to read the fuel figures
Ford published WLTP fuel-efficiency starting points of 5.1 l/100 km for specified petrol or mild-hybrid variants and 4.0 l/100 km for specified diesel variants. These are homologated figures, not a promise of real-world consumption; Ford notes that figures vary by version and market. Compare only cars with matching engine, transmission, market and test context.

Technology and driver assistance
The European update announced SYNC 4, a 13.2-inch landscape centre screen, cloud-connected navigation, connected voice control and wireless Power-Up updates. These are manufacturer-described features, and their availability depends on vehicle configuration; confirm that the specific car has them rather than assuming they are standard on every 2022 Focus.
Ford also highlighted Blind Spot Assist. The system monitors the blind spot and can apply counter-steering when it detects a potential collision risk during a lane-change manoeuvre. This is Ford’s description of the feature, not a guarantee that every Focus includes it or that it replaces attentive driving.

Hatchback and wagon practicality
Ford of Europe described the refreshed Focus as a five-door hatchback or wagon. Its wagon update included a wet zone, easy-clean carpet and side trims, and a vertical divider in the load area. Ford stated 1,653 litres of loadspace for the wagon variant described. Check the exact version and measurement convention before using that figure to compare vehicles.
Choose the owner’s manual by build date
Ford’s Portugal support page lists the 2022 Focus under the “Focus (2018)” designation and separates owner information into two build periods: through 4 September 2022, and from 5 September 2022 through 9 July 2023. The date split matters because a car registered in 2022 may have been built at a different time from another 2022-registered car. Check the build date and the support page’s applicable manual entry before relying on instructions for controls, maintenance or specifications.

- Identify the exact car: confirm market, build date, body style, trim, engine and transmission.
- Match the item to the vehicle: check the manufacturer or seller’s compatibility details for that configuration, including any body-style or transmission restrictions.
- Verify replacement specifications: for safety- or performance-critical items such as tyres, brakes and batteries, confirm the required dimensions and specifications against the correct vehicle documentation or a qualified parts supplier.
- Check fitment before buying: a search such as “2022 Ford Focus floor mats” is only a starting point; it does not prove compatibility with your car.
Ford lists mats among Focus accessories and provides a Focus accessories page and a 2022 accessory overview. Confirm the relevant market and the exact product’s fitment information before purchase.
What a model-year label cannot tell you
“2022 Ford Focus” alone does not establish a car’s engine, equipment, manual edition or compatible replacement parts. European specifications in Ford’s announcement should not be applied to a vehicle from another market without checking its own documentation. For comparisons, match market, trim, body style, engine, transmission and build date; use fuel-consumption figures only when their WLTP context also matches.
