Audi presented the update in July 2021 for the 2022 season, emphasizing easier drivability through changes to aerodynamics, engine response, cockpit cooling, suspension and traction control.
What is the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II?
The R8 LMS GT3 Evo II is the second evolution of Audi’s second-generation R8 LMS GT3 race car. Audi introduced that generation in 2015, followed it with an initial evolution at the end of 2018, and presented Evo II in 2021 for the 2022 season. It was offered to customer teams as either a complete car or a retrofit technology package for existing models. Audi’s July 2021 announcement describes the car as an update aimed at customer-team drivability.
GT3 is a multi-brand category used in sprint and endurance racing. Audi’s announcement cited series and events including GT World Challenge in America, Europe and Australia, ADAC GT Masters, DTM, and the 24 Hours of Spa and Nürburgring as examples at that time; those examples are not a statement of current calendars or entries.
What changed for Evo II?
Audi identified five development areas: aerodynamics, engine characteristics, air conditioning, suspension and traction control. The details below are Audi’s technical descriptions and claimed benefits, not independent head-to-head test results.

Aerodynamics and braking stability
The revised rear wing produces a greater share of the car’s downforce, with less attributed to the floor than before. Audi said the revised distribution makes the car less aerodynamically sensitive under braking.
Engine response
Audi revised the intake system, extending its passages by 30 mm. The stated aim was to increase torque in the low and middle rev ranges, where responsive delivery can matter when accelerating out of slower corners.

Traction-control tuning
The traction-control system allows separate adjustment of intervention at the corner apex and on corner exit. That gives teams more specific control over how the system responds at two different points in a turn.
Suspension adjustment
Four-way adjustable dampers replace the previous two-way units, expanding the available adjustment range for chassis setup.

2022 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II specifications
Audi’s technical data sheet, dated July 2021 and labeling the car “Audi R8 LMS (2022),” gives the following period specifications. The power figure is a maximum, not a guaranteed output in every championship: the series organizer’s Balance of Performance and restrictors determine the applicable figure.

The meaningful comparison is in the areas Audi changed, rather than a claimed lap-time gain. Evo II revises downforce distribution and braking sensitivity, intake behavior and low- to mid-range torque, cockpit cooling, damper adjustment, and traction-control tuning. Audi’s published technical overview explains those changes but does not provide a quantified lap-time comparison or independent head-to-head performance result.

How much did the car cost?
Audi announced a 2022-season offering price of €429,000 plus VAT in 2021. That is a historical new-car price, not a current market valuation. The published information here does not establish present availability or the current value of a complete car or retrofit package.
Audi R8 LMS GT3 results cited at launch
In its 2021 announcement, Audi reported that the R8 LMS had earned 83 driver titles and 106 other championship successes, as well as eight overall 12-hour wins and 13 overall 24-hour wins. These are Audi’s figures at the time of announcement, not updated totals.
