Is the 2018 Yamaha XMAX a 250 or a 300?
It depends on the market. Yamaha announced a 249 cm³ XMAX ABS for Japan, identified as type 2BK-SG42J / G3H5E. Yamaha Europe’s 2018 factsheet describes the XMAX 300, with a 292 cc engine. The names and figures below refer to those specific versions, not a single worldwide specification.

What tire size and pressure does the 2018 XMAX 300 use?
Size and rating
The 2018 XMAX 300 owner’s manual lists Michelin City Grip as original equipment, with a front tire of 120/70-15 M/C 56S and a rear tire of 140/70-14 M/C 68S. The tire sizes in Yamaha Europe’s factsheet match those dimensions. Check the tire sidewall and the manual for your exact scooter before buying: do not assume the European XMAX 300 fitment applies to a different market version.
Cold pressure and load
The manual lists cold pressures of 200 kPa (29 psi) at the front and 225 kPa (33 psi) at the rear, for one or two people. It gives a maximum combined load of 161 kg (355 lb) for rider, passenger, cargo and accessories. These are figures for the 2018 XMAX 300 manual, whose imprint is dated 2017; confirm the market-specific manual for your vehicle and follow local requirements.

Checks and replacement
- Check tire condition before each ride and use the tread-depth limits that apply in your country.
- When shopping, match the exact front and rear dimensions and load/speed ratings, and verify fitment against the scooter’s manual and tire sidewall.
- The manual recommends dealer replacement for excessively worn tires and wheel balancing whenever a tire or wheel is changed.
Which 2018 XMAX version do you have?
Start with the vehicle’s market, type/model identification and engine displacement, then use the matching market-specific manual and parts information. A listing that says only “2018 Yamaha XMAX” may not distinguish the 249 cm³ Japanese model from the European 292 cc XMAX 300. The two variants share some published figures, but that does not establish that every specification or part is interchangeable.
