Volkswagen UK lists its CC used range as 2012–2017, and Volkswagen says the Arteon, presented in 2017, succeeded the CC. If a car is advertised or registered as a 2018 CC, check its VIN, market, and paperwork before relying on year-specific specifications, manuals, or parts information.
Was there a 2018 Volkswagen CC?
The safest answer is that a 2018 Volkswagen CC is unverified in the official sources reviewed, not that no vehicle anywhere could carry that registration or title. Volkswagen UK’s used-car page labels the CC range “2012–2017” (Volkswagen UK CC used range). Volkswagen Newsroom states: “The successor to the CC, presented in 2017, is the Arteon” (Volkswagen Newsroom CC history).
A registration year is not necessarily the same as a model year, and vehicles and naming conventions can vary by market. The sources above support a 2017 endpoint for the UK range; they are not a comprehensive global production database. Treat “2018 Volkswagen CC” as a claim to verify against the specific car, rather than silently changing its identity to a 2017 model.
How to verify the car before using year-specific information
- Find the VIN. Volkswagen US says it can be found in the service book or at the lower-right corner of the driver-side windshield.
- Check the vehicle’s market and paperwork. Compare the VIN and vehicle documents, and confirm whether “2018” refers to registration, sale, or model year.
- Get documentation for that vehicle. Use the VIN and market to locate the matching owner’s manual and maintenance information. Volkswagen US provides a digital-manual route for 2012–2022 models and an option to order printed owner literature (Volkswagen US owner’s manuals).
- Confirm fitment before buying parts. A year label alone is not enough to establish the engine, market, or correct part for a disputed model identity.
What the documented 2017 UK CC range included
Volkswagen UK’s July 2017 brochure is a useful reference for that market and year only. It lists a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine rated at 150 PS, plus 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines rated at 150 PS or 184 PS. Manual and DSG transmission combinations vary by version (Volkswagen UK 2017 CC brochure).

The same brochure gives official combined-consumption figures of 49.6–62.8 mpg and CO2 emissions of 118–133 g/km across its listed variants. These are brochure figures for the 2017 UK range, not real-world fuel-consumption guarantees or specifications for a 2018 model. Volkswagen notes that brochure specifications are for information and may change.

Volkswagen Brazil’s manual archive lists a “CC 2017 – Manual de Instruções” and a 2017 supplement, alongside manuals for earlier CC years (Volkswagen Brazil manual archive). That establishes the availability of Brazilian-market documentation, not that its contents match a car sold in the United States, the UK, or another market. Match the manual to the car’s VIN and market before following its instructions.
