The key difference is paint: the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Midnight Edition was specified with black exterior paint, while the Dusk Edition was offered in other ZR2 exterior colors. Both share black 17-inch wheels, 31-inch tires, a black sport bar and off-road lighting. Chevrolet’s brochure lists both editions in Extended and Crew Cab configurations, with the standard 3.6L V6 or available 2.8L turbo-diesel.

Chevrolet’s Chevrolet Truck Playbook lists the equipment and configurations for both editions. GM Canada’s announcement, dated November 13, 2017, describes the Midnight’s black exterior, black bowties, black accessory wheels including the spare, and sport bar with off-road LED lighting; it says Dusk offers the same content in other ZR2 exterior finishes. How to identify one when shopping used
Start with the truck’s documentation, then compare the paint and equipment with its original specification. Midnight should have black exterior paint; Dusk should have a non-black ZR2 exterior color. The shared wheels, tires, sport bar and lighting help describe the editions, but they are not enough on their own to confirm an individual truck’s original build: parts may have been replaced or modified.
- Check vehicle records or other documentation for the edition and original configuration.
- Inspect the exterior color and current equipment rather than assuming every visible part is factory-original.
- Confirm cab and engine from the individual truck’s records; the brochure’s range does not establish the build of a specific vehicle.
What to know about the tires
Chevrolet’s 2018 special-edition material gives a 31-inch tire diameter. A Chevrolet lineup brochure identifies Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires in its Colorado materials, but that period reference does not establish which tires remain on a particular used truck or what replacement tires fit it today. Before replacing tires, check the tire placard on the truck and verify the required size and load rating, along with wheel dimensions and the vehicle’s current setup. The advertised diameter alone is not a complete fitment specification.
