The 2016 Scion tC is a front-wheel-drive hatchback coupe with a 179-hp four-cylinder, a choice of manual or automatic transmission, and a useful folding rear seat. Kelley Blue Book’s review sees it as a practical, well-equipped daily driver with sporty styling—not a match for more performance-focused coupes in acceleration or cornering. KBB’s displayed fair-purchase estimates are $12,050 for the standard model and $12,200 for the Release Series 10.0, with values marked valid through October 6, 2026.
What is the 2016 Scion tC like?
Kelley Blue Book describes the tC as an affordable coupe that combines a sporty look with everyday utility. Its hatchback layout and 60/40-split folding rear seatbacks make it more flexible for cargo than a conventional coupe, and KBB characterizes the rear seat as roomy for a car of this size. KBB lists seating for up to five and 34.5 cubic feet of cargo volume.
The tradeoff, in KBB reviewer Joe Tralongo’s assessment, is that the tC does not deliver the acceleration or cornering excitement of a dedicated sports coupe. KBB points to the Honda Civic Si and Hyundai Veloster Turbo as more performance-oriented alternatives, but the available information does not establish a full head-to-head comparison.
Equipment and cabin features
KBB’s review lists standard 18-inch wheels, Pioneer audio with a 7-inch screen, Bluetooth, a panoramic moonroof, and automatic headlights. A BeSpoke audio/navigation upgrade and dealer-installed personalization and TRD components were also offered. Used examples may have been modified, so confirm equipment on the specific car rather than relying on a listing description.

Kelley Blue Book displayed the following national-average estimates for typical mileage, marked valid through October 6, 2026. They are benchmarks, not a quote for a particular car. KBB says values vary with mileage, condition, location, equipment, and other factors.

Compare listings fairly
Before deciding whether an asking price is reasonable, compare cars with the same model year and trim and account for transmission, mileage, condition, title history, location, installed equipment, and maintenance records. A lower price may reflect a meaningful difference in condition or history; a special-edition badge alone does not establish value.
Original 2016 MSRP
Toyota’s 2015 model-year announcement lists original MSRPs of $19,385 with the six-speed manual and $20,535 with the six-speed automatic, which included paddle shifters and Dynamic Rev Management. These historical figures differ from KBB’s original-MSRP entries for the standard model and Release Series 10.0 above; they describe different configurations or pricing references, not current used-car values. - Verify the advertised model year, trim, transmission, and equipment against the actual vehicle.
- Compare the car’s mileage, condition, location, title history, and maintenance records with comparable listings and current local values.
- Inspect the hatch, folding rear seat, and cargo area for wear or damage, and test the features advertised on that individual car.
