The 2010 Nissan Maxima came in two U.S. trims, 3.5 S and 3.5 SV. Both use a 290-hp 3.5-liter V6, a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive, with EPA fuel economy of 19 mpg city, 26 highway and 22 combined. Kelley Blue Book’s used-value guideposts shown through September 10, 2026, are $4,100 for the S and $5,375 for the SV, but a specific car’s mileage, condition and location can change its value substantially.
2010 Nissan Maxima trims and prices
The U.S. lineup consisted of the 3.5 S and 3.5 SV. The principal distinction is equipment, not engine or fuel economy: both trims share the same published powertrain and EPA ratings.

KBB describes its used-price figures as national-average fair purchase prices for typical-condition purchases from dealerships. It says actual values can vary greatly with mileage, condition and location. Treat these figures as dated guideposts, not an appraisal or a quote for a particular car. Check the current KBB 2010 Maxima pricing page before using them in a purchase negotiation.
Original MSRP figures differ by source and pricing basis. Edmunds lists approximate original prices including destination of $30,690 for the S and $33,410 for the SV. How to judge an asking price
Use a value guide as a starting point, then compare cars with similar mileage, condition and equipment in your area. Review service records and inspect the individual vehicle before deciding whether its asking price is justified. The SV’s higher KBB estimate alone does not make it the better buy.
Specs and fuel economy
KBB and Edmunds list the same core engine, drivetrain and EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2010 Maxima. The published ratings apply to both trims.

What differs between the S and SV?
The S and SV share the engine, transmission, drivetrain and fuel-economy ratings. Their equipment can differ, and individual cars may have options or packages, so verify the equipment on the specific vehicle rather than assuming every feature was standard on every trim.

Nissan’s model-year overview describes the 2010 Maxima as the second year of the seventh-generation design and notes changes including new wheel finishes, USB connectivity replacing iPod connectivity, Bluetooth hands-free phone standard on the S, and XM satellite radio standard on the SV. Nissan also lists available technology such as a RearView Monitor and navigation system.
