How the 57 S and Zeppelin differ
The 57 S and Zeppelin also use 6.0-liter V12 engines, but their outputs are not the same as the standard 57’s. Cars.com lists the 57 S at 604 hp and 738 lb-ft, and the Zeppelin at 631 hp and 739 lb-ft. Its overview also identifies a five-speed automatic and adaptive air suspension. Do not assume the standard 57’s engine output or every dimension applies to these variants.

The 57 Zeppelin joined the 2010 57/62 lineup as a higher-end model. Cars.com describes two-tone paint, more luxurious interior equipment and additional power. It reports that 100 examples were scheduled worldwide; that is a stated production plan, not confirmation of the final number built.

Mercedes-Benz Media Italy’s coverage of the 2010 Paris Motor Show describes grille differences: standard 57 and 62 models had 20 thin vertical slats, while S models had 12 substantial double slats with a vertical bar. The article also discusses design details and optional equipment. It says in Italian: “Inoltre, in futuro chi acquisterà una Maybach 57 o 57 S potrà ordinare anche il sedile posteriore con posizione di relax dei modelli Maybach 62.” Translation: Mercedes-Benz said that buyers of a 57 or 57 S would be able to order the Maybach 62’s rear relaxation-seat position. The statement appears in Mercedes-Benz Media Italy’s 2010 Paris Motor Show article.
