The 2011 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GTS was the range-topping version of Maserati’s four-door saloon, powered by a 4.7-litre V8 rated at 440 hp and 490 Nm in period manufacturer material. MC Sport Line was a separate, optional package of racing-inspired styling and carbon-fibre details; its presence and exact equipment should be confirmed on the individual car.
What the name means
Period sources use both “Sport GT S” and “Sport GTS” for the performance-focused Quattroporte. Maserati’s UK feature calls it the Sport GTS, as does the 2011 brochure. MC Sport Line is not another engine or trim designation: it identifies an options package that could be specified with the Quattroporte.
Maserati says MC Sport Line debuted on the GranTurismo in December 2008 and was extended to the Quattroporte range for model year 2010. Its 22 September 2010 announcement says the existing Quattroporte options remained available for MY2011; the new additions that year were aimed especially at GranTurismo. The package drew on Maserati Corse’s racing identity and used carbon fibre extensively. Maserati’s MY2011 announcement describes its aim as enhancing the cars’ sporty character through racing-inspired looks and technical options.
Engine and performance
The Sport GTS has a 4,691 cm³ V8—usually described as 4.7 litres. Maserati’s 2011 brochure lists 323 kW (440 ch) and 490 Nm. Maserati GB’s period feature likewise gives 440 hp and 490 Nm, compared with 430 hp for the Quattroporte S.

These are period manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Maserati GB also expressed performance as 5.1 seconds to 62 mph and 177 mph maximum speed.
How the Sport GTS differs from the Quattroporte S
Maserati GB’s period account attributes the Sport GTS’s output increase over the S to a sports exhaust. It also describes changes to engine mapping, gearshift-management software and suspension setup. The exhaust uses pneumatic valves: in normal conditions they are closed, while selecting Sport mode opens them for a louder exhaust note.

The feature describes a six-speed ZF automatic with automatic and manual-sequential operation. The transmission sits behind the front-mounted engine; drive goes to the rear wheels through a self-locking limited-slip differential. Maserati GB reports 49/51 front-to-rear weight distribution for the Quattroporte range.
MC Sport Line and exterior details
The Sport GTS’s period exterior specification included a black grille with red accents, titanium-finish headlamps, black shadow-line trim, black exhaust finish, 20-inch Trident-design wheels and red brake calipers, according to Maserati GB. Those details describe the Sport GTS; they should not be treated as proof that a particular car has MC Sport Line.

Coverage of a Quattroporte Sport GT S with MC Sport Line shown at the Australian International Motor Show in October 2010 described carbon-fibre in place of wood on dashboard and console surfaces, parts of the door panels, the gear knob, switchgear, instrument pack and shift paddles. It also noted carbon-fibre door sills embossed with the package logo and an MC mark on the aluminium brake pedal. That is a description of the displayed car, not a guarantee that every market or example received precisely the same configuration. Check the car’s documentation and equipment in person.

Before ordering, read the sidewall markings and verify the wheel and tire specification fitted to that individual car. A useful search starts with “245/35 ZR20 performance tire” for the front and “295/30 ZR20 performance tire” for the rear; the period brochure does not establish what brands, models or stock are currently available.
What to verify on a specific car
- Confirm whether the car is a Sport GTS and whether MC Sport Line equipment is documented; the package was optional, not a universal feature of every Sport GTS.
- Compare visible carbon-fibre and other package details with the car’s market-specific specification and paperwork rather than assuming every example matches the motor-show car.
- Check the fitted wheel and tire markings before purchasing replacements.
The period sources establish the original specification and package context, but do not establish current fuel economy, reliability, service costs, or parts availability.
