The 2010 Citroën Survolt Artcar was an artist-decorated version of Citroën’s electric racing concept, not a production car. Announced on 15 October 2010, it paired the Survolt’s motorsport-inspired design with fluorescent pink, green and yellow artwork by French contemporary artist Françoise Nielly. Citroën said the car was on display at its C42 venue in Paris.
What was the Citroën Survolt Artcar?
The Survolt began as an all-electric concept that combined fashion references with motor-racing cues. DS Automobiles introduced it for the 2010 Geneva Motor Show as “an electrifying new model: the sensational SURVOLT concept” in its 1 March 2010 press release. Citroën later presented it as an electric racing car. The Artcar was a subsequent artistic treatment of that concept, announced by Citroën on 15 October 2010.
Citroën credited Françoise Nielly with decorating the car. Its Spanish-language announcement described fluorescent pink, green and yellow, and said the colors and Nielly’s style were intended to represent the energy of full-electric technology. That is the manufacturer’s description of the project; it is not a statement quoted directly from Nielly.
How did the Artcar differ from the original concept?
The original Survolt’s launch look and the later Artcar treatment should not be confused. DS Automobiles described the concept’s Geneva finish as fuchsia and charcoal gray. The October Artcar announcement instead highlighted fluorescent pink, green and yellow, applied in collaboration with Nielly.

The car’s underlying styling blended two themes: flowing, aerodynamic forms and sculpted sides and wheel arches evoked performance, while the concept’s fashion and couture references gave it a more expressive character than a conventional race-car study. DS’s concept description also noted slim horizontal headlamps, an oval grille with Citroën chevrons and a rear-light signature carried over from the Revolte concept. The Artcar added a vivid color treatment to that existing design rather than representing a separate production model.
What specifications did Citroën claim for the Survolt?
In a 6 July 2010 release, Citroën described the Survolt’s electric powertrain and performance. These are historical manufacturer claims for a concept vehicle, not independent test results or specifications for a retail EV.

Citroën’s 6 July 2010 technical announcement does not identify an independent test protocol or a standardized range cycle. The figures therefore describe what the manufacturer said about its concept at the time; they should not be read as verified real-world performance.
When and where was the Artcar shown?
Citroën announced the Nielly Artcar on 15 October 2010 and said it could be seen at C42, the brand’s venue in Paris. The announcement establishes a display location at that time, not where the vehicle is today. The dated sequence is: Survolt concept introduction for Geneva on 1 March, an electric-racing-car announcement with specifications on 6 July, and the Artcar announcement on 15 October 2010.

Was the Survolt a production car?
No. Citroën and DS presented the Survolt as a concept, and the available official announcements describe a design and technology study rather than a retail vehicle. Its stated speed, acceleration, range and charging times belong to that concept’s 2010 manufacturer description. The sources do not establish a production version or current merchandise associated with the Artcar.
