Identify the market version before ordering parts
Yamaha’s 2009 owner’s service manual identifies the North American model as WR250FY and lists distinct market codes: 5UMN for the USA, 5UMP for Canada, 5UMR for Europe, and 5UMS for Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. The frame model label is under the seat; the VIN is stamped on the right side of the steering-head pipe. Give those details to a Yamaha parts seller and ask them to confirm fitment. Fuel and engine oil
Fuel
The manual specifies premium unleaded gasoline with a research octane number (RON) of at least 95. The tank capacity is 8.0 L, including a listed 1.1 L reserve. Yamaha manual fuel specifications.
Oil grade depends on market
Do not treat one oil grade as universal for every 2009 WR250F. Yamaha’s manual lists these recommendations:

Oil quantity depends on the service
Yamaha lists three different engine-oil amounts: 1.1 L for a periodic oil change, 1.2 L when replacing the oil filter, and 1.4 L as the total engine-oil amount. They describe different service conditions, not interchangeable fill targets. Follow the manual’s oil-level procedure when servicing the motorcycle. Tire sizes and pressure
The WR250F uses tube-type tires. Yamaha lists different sizes by market:

Service manual and replacement parts
Yamaha publication 5UM-28199-56-E0 is the 2009 WR250F(Y) owner’s service manual. It covers operation, inspection, basic maintenance, and tuning, with sections on specifications, regular inspection and adjustments, tuning, engine, chassis, and electrical systems. Yamaha’s foreword says, “This manual explains operation, inspection, basic maintenance and tuning of your machine.” The manual also advises contacting a Yamaha dealer with questions about it or the motorcycle.
