The 2009 Buell Blast is a lightweight, air-cooled 492 cc single with a published output of 34 hp and 30 ft-lb of torque. Its original U.S. MSRP was $4,795; J.D. Power currently displays low- and average-retail reference values of $850 and $1,120, but those figures are not a dated forecast of what a particular bike should sell for. Here are the key specifications, what the price figures do—and do not—tell you, and where to see model photos.
2009 Buell Blast performance
The Blast’s 492 cc (30.0 cu in), air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine is listed at 34 hp at 6,500 rpm and 30 ft-lb (40.7 Nm) at 3,200 rpm. The Canadian specification listing gives 41 Nm at 3,200 rpm, consistent after rounding. Those figures describe modest single-cylinder output with its torque peak arriving at relatively low engine speed; they are published specifications, not results from an independent test. Total Motorcycle’s 2009 specifications and AutoTrader.ca’s listing provide the reproduced figures.
No verified top-speed or acceleration-time figure is established here, so neither should be inferred from the horsepower rating. Fuel-economy figures also differ by source: Total Motorcycle reproduces 69 mpg urban and 73 mpg highway, while AutoTrader US lists 64 mpg city and 73 mpg highway. These are published figures, not independently tested results, and the city/urban values should not be treated as interchangeable or resolved by choosing one without attribution.
2009 Buell Blast specifications
| Specification | Published figure |
|---|---|
| Engine | 492 cc (30.0 cu in), air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder |
| Power | 34 hp at 6,500 rpm (Total Motorcycle, 2009 model specifications) |
| Torque | 30 ft-lb (40.7 Nm) at 3,200 rpm (Total Motorcycle, 2009 model specifications); AutoTrader.ca lists 41 Nm at 3,200 rpm |
| Transmission | 5-speed manual (published model specifications) |
| Fuel capacity | 2.8 U.S. gallons (10.6 L) (published model specifications) |
| Weight | 360 lb dry or shipped in model sources; 380 lb wet in Harley-Davidson’s service specification. These are different measures and should not be compared as if they use the same basis. |
| Seat height | Harley-Davidson’s Blast-family service specification lists 25.5 in low and 27.5 in high seat options; confirm the seat fitted to the individual motorcycle. |
Harley-Davidson’s service specification page supplies the family-level dimensions and wet weight; EvelRide’s dealer specification page also lists standard and low-profile seat heights. Weight labels matter: a dry or shipped figure excludes different items than a wet figure, so the values are not a direct discrepancy or a like-for-like comparison.

How much is a 2009 Buell Blast worth?
The listed original U.S. MSRP was $4,795, according to J.D. Power and AutoTrader US. J.D. Power’s accessed values page displays $850 low retail and $1,120 average retail. The page result does not identify the valuation date or enough condition assumptions to make those values a reliable current asking-price range or a quote for an individual motorcycle.
Use the valuation as a reference point, then assess each bike on its own merits. Check its mileage, maintenance history, title status, location, asking price, and whether original parts have been replaced or modified. The available figures do not support a specific dollar adjustment for any of those factors, and no dated set of comparable current listings establishes a market average.

AutoTrader.ca lists Pirelli MT75 tires in 100/80 R16 50S at the front and 120/80 R16 60S at the rear. Before ordering replacements, read the size and load/speed ratings on the motorcycle’s existing tire sidewalls and confirm fitment for that specific bike. Modifications or market differences can affect what is appropriate, so do not rely on a model listing alone.
