The 2008 Yamaha YZ450F is a competition motocross motorcycle with a 449 cm³ liquid-cooled, four-stroke, five-valve engine and kick starter. Its published specifications vary by market, so identify the motorcycle’s model code before relying on a specification or ordering parts. Yamaha’s factory service manual is the primary reference for maintenance; the available parts fiche shows an oil-filter category but does not establish a specific filter number.

Market codes and model names
Yamaha’s 2008 service manual groups models by market code, and the model name is not identical across all regions. The manual lists 2S2B for the USA and Canada, 2S2C for Europe, and 2S2E for Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. It labels the North American, Australian, and New Zealand group YZ450FX, and the European and South African group YZ450F. These labels and groupings make it important to check the code for the specific motorcycle rather than ordering from the year and name alone.

#1 Best Overall
- Precision 65mm 14-Flute Fitment: This motorcycle oil filter wrench features a 65mm with 14 flutes that fully envelop the filter housing. The tight grip evenly distributes pressure across the entire surface, reduce localized stress points for quick, efficient installation and dismantle
- Slip-Resistant Torque Distribution: The 14-flute design of this 65mm 14 flute oil filter wrench evenly disperses torque across the filter surface, avoiding slippage and tooth-jumping during tightening or loosening. It protects the filter housing from scratches, deformation, and crushing damage
- Heavy-Duty Steel Construction: Forged from high-grade steel with exceptional strength and hardness, this 65mm oil filter wrench offers a thick, solid structure that withstands high-torque applications. It resists cracking and wear through repeated use, providing long-lasting, rust-proof durability
- Standard 3/8" Square Drive: Featuring a standard 3/8-inch square drive interface, this 65 mm oil filter wrench works seamlessly with most 3/8 ratchets and torque wrenches. No additional adapters required—simply attach and go. Avoid over-tightening for optimal results
- Versatile Off-Road Application: This oil filter wrench is widely compatible with motorcycles, dirt bikes, ATVs, and UTVs. An essential tool for DIY enthusiasts and professional technicians performing routine filter maintenance
The manual’s listed dry weight of 99.5 kg applies to its displayed North American/Australian/New Zealand group; it should not be treated as a universal figure for every regional version. Consult the correct regional specifications for other dimensions or weights. The 2008 manual’s general specifications provides the regional groupings.
Oil capacity and oil-filter fitment
Oil capacity
For the regional group covered by the manual’s listed oil table—USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa—the stated engine-oil capacities are:
Rank #2
- TIPS: 1. BENT head design for easier use in some tight space; 2. OIL on product for rust protection (not used)
- Permalock fastener eliminates nut and bolt failure
- High carbon steel for strength and reliability
- Fits oil filters from 2-3/8 to 4-1/2 inches (60 to 102 millimeters) in diameter
- Soft, Nonslip Red Grips Offer Extra Reach And Leverage In Tight Places
- 0.95 L for a periodic oil change
- 1.0 L when replacing the oil filter
- 1.2 L total capacity
The same manual specifies Yamalube 4 grades and API SG or higher/JASO MA, while oil directions differ by region. Use the correct regional manual and follow its procedure; do not treat the total capacity as the routine refill amount. See Yamaha’s 2008 service-manual specifications.
Finding the correct oil filter
The 2008 Yamaha YZ450F parts fiche includes an oil-filter category, but that listing alone does not verify a filter part number, interchangeability, current stock, or price. Before buying, match the part number to the motorcycle’s market code or VIN in a reliable model-specific fiche or with a Yamaha dealer. A listing that merely says “2008 YZ450F” is not enough to establish fitment.
Rank #3
- FITMENT - Fit for 1984-2021 Harley Spin-On Oil Filters (Except '15-Later XG)
- USAGE - Easy of Use for installation and removal of oil filter. The oil filter wrench has a largecut out in order to clear thecrank position sensor area
- Drive - 3/8" drive or 7/8" socket wrench
- HIHG-QUALITY - Made of heavy-duty steel for strength and durability. Surface is painted to prevent corrosion for long life
- NOTE - Please check your motorcycle model before ordering.
Where to find service information
Use Yamaha’s 2008 YZ450F(X) Owner’s Service Manual as the primary reference for maintenance procedures, specifications, and region-specific directions. Start with the motorcycle’s market code, then use the matching manual information rather than assuming that a procedure or specification from another regional version applies. The manual’s general-specifications page is available through ManualsLib’s reproduction of Yamaha’s 2008 manual.
For replacement parts, use a model-specific fiche such as Rich’s Yamaha’s 2008 parts diagrams, and confirm the exact application before ordering. A fiche identifies assemblies and categories; it does not by itself confirm that a particular item is in stock or compatible with every market version.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- 64mm 14-Flute Oil Filter Fit: Designed for oil filters with a 64mm diameter and 14-flute pattern, this 3/8" drive cap wrench provides a secure fit for proper engagement. The 4 bottom slots align with compatible catridge oil filter cap tabs to help maintain grip and reduce slipping during removal
- Vehicle Compatibility: Compatible with Toyota, Lexus, Camry, 4Runner, RAV4, Tundra, Tacoma, Highlander, Sienna, Sequoia, Avalon, and Venza vehicles equipped with 2.5L-5.7L engines. Designed for use with oil filter housings compatible with OEM reference 15620-31060. Always confirm 64mm diameter, 14-flute, and filter housing compatibility before purchase
- Precision Machined Fit: Manufactured with precise dimensions to match 64mm 14-flute oil filter housings, providing consistent contact across the filter cap surface. The accurate fit helps distribute removal force evenly, reducing slipping and improving control during filter removal and installation
- Lightweight 6061-T5 Aluminum Construction: Made from 6061-T5 aluminum alloy with a black anodized finish for corrosion resistance. Designed for hand-driven torque applications, the lightweight aluminum body delivers sufficient strength and secure engagement for oil filter removal while helping minimize stress on filter housings. For hand tools only — do not use with impact wrenches or power tools
- Oil Change Maintenance Tips: For filter installation, follow the vehicle manufacturer's recommended torque specification (typically around 25 N·m ± 5 N·m). For removal, the wrench is tested to withstand approximately 100 N·m of controlled, evenly applied hand torque. When removing stuck filters, ensure full engagement and proper alignment, then apply force gradually and steadily to avoid damaging the wrench or filter housing.
