ABT announced a styling and performance package for the Volkswagen Eos in 2008; it was an aftermarket option, not standard equipment on every 2008 or 2009 Eos. Its documented styling included a front spoiler, side trim, a rear bumper insert and four-pipe exhaust styling. The engine upgrades reported at the time depended on the car’s engine and ABT tuning stage. Volkswagen’s 2009 model-year context matters because factory 2.0 TFSI output changed across a range whose archived dates overlap in 2009.
What the Volkswagen Eos is
The Eos, Volkswagen factory code 1F, is a four-seat coupe-cabriolet with a retractable steel roof and integrated sliding glass roof. Volkswagen’s model history also describes a reinforced body structure and deployable rollover protection system. The archived vehicle profile lists front-engine, front-wheel-drive layouts, four-cylinder inline and six-cylinder VR engine families, and a 2,578 mm wheelbase. Its listed dimensions are 4,407 × 1,791 × 1,428–1,443 mm. Volkswagen vehicle profile
What ABT offered for the Eos
Styling parts
In a product announcement dated June 26, 2008, ABT described a deep front spoiler, side trim and a rear bumper insert paired with a characteristic four-pipe exhaust. Contemporary reporting also described polished 18-inch alloy wheels. The styling package was reported at €1,458 and the wheels at €690 each at the time; those are historical 2008 prices, not current quotes or evidence of present availability. Period engine tuning claims
Contemporary reporting said ABT offered to raise the 2.0 TFSI from its then-listed factory 200 PS to 240 PS, with higher reported configurations of 270 PS or 300 PS depending on tuning stage and source. ABT’s separate July 4 press item specifies 240 PS (177 kW) and 270 PS (199 kW) for its 2.0 TFSI tuning description. The same period report describes a 3.2-liter V6 conversion to 370 PS and a 2.0 TDI increase from 140 PS to 170 PS. These are period ABT or contemporary-report figures, not Volkswagen factory ratings, independently verified outputs for a particular car, or confirmation of a current ABT offer. Why 2008 and 2009 need to be distinguished
“2008” anchors the documented ABT package announcement. Volkswagen’s factory engine archive, meanwhile, lists the 2.0 TFSI at 147 kW/200 PS for 2006–2009 and 155 kW/211 PS for 2009–2015. Because both ranges include 2009, registration year alone does not establish which version a particular car has. Volkswagen also lists the 2.0 TDI at 103 kW/140 PS for 2008–2015. Other archived Eos engine families include the 1.4 TSI, 1.6 FSI, 2.0 FSI, 3.2 V6 and 3.6 V6 FSI. Check the specific vehicle’s engine/version rather than inferring it from the year. Volkswagen separately records factory editions including the 2008 Edition 2008 and the 2009 GT Sport and White Night. They are not ABT packages. Volkswagen dates the unveiling of the comprehensively redesigned Eos to the end of 2010. Volkswagen Eos model history

How to assess an Eos advertised as “by ABT”
The description alone does not establish which parts or engine work a car has. Separate the factory vehicle from its modifications and verify the details against the car and its records.
- Identify the vehicle. Confirm model year, market and actual engine/version using the vehicle documents and identification details.
- List the claimed ABT work. Distinguish exterior parts, wheels and exhaust from engine tuning; an appearance package does not prove an engine upgrade.
- Check the parts and paperwork. Ask for invoices, part numbers and any documentation identifying the tuning stage and work performed.
- Confirm fitment and approval for the specific car. Historical descriptions do not establish present-day availability, exact fitment or legality/approval. Verify applicable documentation with the seller and relevant local authority before relying on a claim.
What the historical record does—and does not—establish
The period material establishes that ABT promoted Eos-specific styling and engine tuning in 2008, with contemporary reporting giving package prices and several output claims. It does not establish how many Eos cars received those upgrades, whether any particular surviving car is genuine, whether the parts remain available, or what a modified car produces today. Treat an advertised ABT identity as a claim to verify, not as a factory specification.
