Honda’s model-year owner’s manual specifies cold tire pressures of 4.7 psi at the front and 4.0 psi at the rear, and it cautions against inflating the tires with a high-pressure service-station system. Use the manual for the vehicle’s original specifications, and confirm the exact model designation and part number before ordering parts.
What the 2008 Honda TRX450R is designed for
Honda states in the 2008 TRX450R/TRX450ER owner’s manual that “Your ATV is designed and manufactured for off-road use only.” Its tires and equipment are not intended for public-road use. Local laws and requirements may also apply.
The manual describes it as a one-person vehicle: “Your ATV is designed for one person only.” Honda recommends a minimum rider age of 16. It also advises wearing an approved motorcycle helmet, eye protection, sturdy boots, gloves and other protective gear. These are the manufacturer’s instructions for this model year, not a replacement for local rules or an assessment of a particular ATV’s condition.

These specifications are from American Honda Motor Co., Inc.’s 2008 owner’s manual. Check pressure when the tires are cold. Because the values are only about 4–5 psi, use a gauge intended to read accurately in that low range; do not assume a general automotive gauge is accurate at these pressures.

Honda cautions against using a high-pressure service-station system to inflate the tires and recommends a manually operated pump. The manual also discusses tire size and type, handling and stability, and replacing tires in matching pairs if all four cannot be replaced. Check the manual for the specified sizes and types; do not assume a currently sold tire is a direct replacement without confirming fitment.
Maintenance depends on riding conditions
Honda’s maintenance schedule is based on average riding conditions. It calls for more frequent service when the ATV is used severely or ridden in unusually wet or dusty areas. The schedule guidance also flags sand, snow, very wet or muddy conditions, and full-throttle riding. Match the service interval to the way the ATV is actually used rather than treating the average-condition schedule as universal.

The manual covers some basic tasks for owners with mechanical skills, while more difficult work may require special tools or professional service. It identifies an official Honda Service Manual as a source of further procedures and recommends a dealer for work that calls for advanced skills, tools or service data. A model-year manual does not establish the present condition or service needs of an individual ATV.

A catalog diagram does not guarantee that an item is in stock, that its part number is current, or that it fits every regional or model variant. Before buying, confirm the ATV’s exact designation and the part number against the diagram or with a Honda parts department. Do not infer interchangeability from a similar-looking part or a listing for a different variant.
