Start by checking the model label under the seat and the VIN, then use the matching Yamaha owner’s manual before ordering parts or following a service schedule. The cited manual covers FZ6-NHG and FZ6-NAHG variants; it notes that manual content can differ slightly from an individual motorcycle.
Identify the exact 2007 FZ6 first
“2007 FZ6” does not establish every fitment detail. Yamaha’s 2007 model catalogue identifies an FZ6 S2 / FZ6-NHG listing with model code 5S51, while the cited owner’s manual covers FZ6-NHG and FZ6-NAHG variants. Check the label under the seat and the VIN, and confirm the correct market manual before buying variant-dependent parts. Yamaha’s model catalogue may help identify the listing, but confirm that the catalogue entry matches the motorcycle in front of you.
The manual gives different wet weights and maximum loads for its two variants. Maximum load includes the rider, passenger, cargo and accessories.
| Manual variant | Wet weight | Maximum load |
|---|---|---|
| FZ6-NHG | 201.0 kg (443 lb) | 196 kg (432 lb) |
| FZ6-NAHG | 206.0 kg (454 lb) | 191 kg (421 lb) |
These are specifications for the variants covered by that manual, not a complete comparison of every market’s 2007 FZ6 configuration.

Oil, spark plugs and routine maintenance
Engine oil
Yamaha says to check the engine-oil level before each ride. For the covered variants, the manual lists SAE 10W-30, 10W-40, 15W-40, 20W-40 or 20W-50 oil meeting API SG or higher and JASO MA. The listed refill quantity with an oil-filter change is 2.80 L (2.96 US qt). The manual warns against oil marked “Energy Conserving II” or higher because it can cause clutch slippage. Check the exact manual and its operating-condition guidance rather than treating one viscosity as universal.
Spark plugs
The specified spark plug is NGK CR9EK, gapped to 0.6–0.7 mm. Verify the motorcycle’s model code and market manual before ordering or installing plugs.
Drive chain
Yamaha’s schedule calls for a drive-chain check every 800 km (500 mi). Adjust and lubricate it with special O-ring chain lubricant; lubricate it again after washing the motorcycle or riding in rain. The manual does not endorse a particular lubricant brand.

Periodic service schedule
The manual’s schedule calls for annual checks unless a mileage-based check is used. After the 10,000 km (6,000 mi) interval, it says to repeat the intervals beginning at 50,000 km (30,000 mi). Valve clearance inspection and adjustment is listed every 40,000 km (24,000 mi). Its chart also covers fuel lines, spark plugs, the air filter, clutch, brakes, brake hoses, wheels, tires, bearings and chain.
Some scheduled work is marked for a Yamaha dealer because it requires special tools, data or technical skill. Follow the schedule for the exact covered variant; do not assume it is identical for every 2007 FZ6 or that a motorcycle has received work just because it has reached a particular mileage.
Tires and load-dependent pressure
The manual lists 120/70 ZR17M/C (58W) front and 180/55 ZR17M/C (73W) rear tires. Its cold-pressure guidance varies with load:
| Load condition in the manual | Front, cold | Rear, cold |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 90 kg | 225 kPa (33 psi) | 250 kPa (36 psi) |
| Higher load | 250 kPa (36 psi) | 290 kPa (42 psi) |
Confirm the exact variant and use its manual for pressure and approved tire-model guidance. Check pressures when the tires are cold.

What to check before buying a used 2007 FZ6
A model year alone does not establish a bike’s condition, maintenance history or whether service is overdue. Ask for records and inspect the motorcycle systematically; arrange a qualified shop assessment for work beyond your experience.
- Identity and fitment: Compare the model label under the seat and VIN with the paperwork and the manual you intend to use.
- Service history: Look for dated records of oil and filter changes, scheduled inspections and the valve-clearance service when applicable. A missing record does not prove work was not done, but it leaves the history unverified.
- Tires and wheels: Check tire condition, age markings, pressures and wheels for visible damage. Confirm the tires suit the motorcycle and load.
- Brakes: Inspect the braking components and controls for visible wear, damage or leaks. Have concerns evaluated before riding.
- Chain and controls: Check chain condition and lubrication, and confirm the clutch, throttle and other controls operate normally.
- Fluids, battery and leaks: Check fluid levels and look for leaks; assess the battery and electrical operation.
- Load and intended use: Keep the correct variant’s maximum load in mind, including passenger, luggage and accessories.
Yamaha advises owners without the necessary experience or tools to use a dealer for work identified as dealer service. This is especially relevant when records are incomplete or an inspection reveals a concern.
Manuals and parts fitment
Use the owner’s manual matching the motorcycle’s model and market for operating instructions, maintenance intervals and specifications. Yamaha’s 2007 FZ6 S2 parts catalogue lists model-specific parts categories, including the oil filter, wheels, brakes and electrical systems. A catalogue listing is not confirmation of current stock or interchangeability across variants; check the model code before ordering. Technical repair procedures should come from the correct service manual, not from assumptions based on another FZ6 version.
