For the 2026 model year, Ford rates it at 430 hp at 5,500 rpm and 485 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. It is naturally aspirated and port-fuel-injected; Ford also sells a separate 7.3L crate engine, while the 612-hp Megazilla is a different crate-engine product.
What is the Ford Godzilla engine?
“Godzilla” is the name commonly used for Ford’s 7.3L gas V8 in Super Duty applications. Ford’s 2026 technical specifications describe a naturally aspirated engine with port fuel injection, a cast-iron block, aluminum cylinder heads and a 10.5:1 compression ratio. Its listed displacement is 445 cubic inches (7.3L). Ford’s 2026 Super Duty specifications and its 2026 technical specifications give the model-year-specific figures.

These are Ford’s published 2026 Super Duty specifications, not a universal rating for every model year or a modified engine. Check the specifications and owner’s manual for the exact truck before using figures for maintenance, towing or parts decisions.
Fuel, firing order and other owner details
Ford’s 2025 Super Duty owner’s manual lists 445 in³ (7,293 cm³) displacement, a minimum fuel rating of 87 octane, a 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2 firing order and 10.5:1 compression for the 7.3L gasoline engine. The 2020 manual gives the same listed values for that model year. For service work or fuel guidance, use the manual that matches your vehicle and configuration rather than assuming every year is identical.

Godzilla truck engine vs. Godzilla crate engine
The production engine in a Super Duty and Ford’s M-6007-73B crate engine are related 7.3L products, but they are not interchangeable descriptions of a complete vehicle setup. Ford Performance Parts lists the M-6007-73B at 430 hp and 485 lb-ft, with an engine weight of 580 pounds. The assembly includes a composite intake manifold and 87 mm throttle body, exhaust manifolds, an 8-quart aluminum oil pan/cooler, ignition coils and wires, and a production flex plate. Ford lists a bellhousing bolt pattern shared with its 4.6/5.4 and 5.0 Coyote engines; that does not mean a swap is a bolt-in installation.

- OEM Compatibility: Patent-pending SoloSwap short block is fully compatible with all Ford 7.3L and 6.8L Godzilla bolt-ons including intake manifolds, headers, oil pans, and accessories for accurate fitment
- Lightweight Design: Weighing only 27 lbs, this steel mock up block can be easily installed and removed by one person without an engine hoist, making engine swap setup faster and safer
- Accurate Fitment Testing: Replicates all 2020–current Godzilla engines for Ford vehicles, allowing precise mock up of mounts, header clearance, accessory drive alignment, and full chassis integration
- Heavy-Duty Construction: Built from durable 12-gauge laser-cut steel, offering superior strength versus foam or plastic blocks and holding up to repeated use, fabrication, and mounted components
- Flexible Build Options: Short block version accepts OE and aftermarket cylinder heads and all bolt-on components, enabling full mock engine assembly for swap planning and measurement accuracy
For swap planning, Ford lists the M-11000-SD73 starter, M-8600-SD73 FEAD kit and M-8600-SD73AC A/C add-on kit. Its listing directs customers to Ford Performance Parts Techline for control-pack information. Ford also lists the M-6038-73 shipping and storage cradle. Confirm present availability and vehicle-specific fitment before selecting parts.

Godzilla vs. Megazilla: why the horsepower figures differ
Ford lists the separate 7.3L Megazilla crate engine at 612 hp. That rating belongs to the Megazilla performance crate engine, not the production Super Duty Godzilla, whose 2026 rating is 430 hp. Treat each figure as specific to its named product.

- Adjustable Lifting Points: Features five reinforced holes to customize lift angles, with included mounting hardware that stores neatly on the plate when not in use.
- Shop-Friendly Features: Satin black powder coat resists wear, while raised end caps form a convenient tray area to keep small tools and hardware secure during engine work.
How to think about the 7.3L gas V8 versus a Super Duty diesel
Ford’s 2026 Super Duty specifications list 1,050 lb-ft for the 6.7L standard-output diesel, compared with 485 lb-ft for the 7.3L gas V8. That is a meaningful published torque difference, but it does not by itself establish which engine is the better choice. Compare the specific truck configurations and towing or payload requirements, then account for fuel type, operating conditions and total ownership costs. Use Ford’s published ratings for the model year and configuration under consideration.

Ford’s specification and product pages establish advertised output and listed hardware, but they do not establish a typical fuel-economy figure, a failure rate or a universal reliability verdict. Owner discussions can show the questions buyers raise, such as towing distance and used-truck ownership, but individual reports are not representative measurements. One owner discussion about buying a 7.3 Godzilla and an F-250 7.3L discussion are anecdotal, not a basis for typical economy or reliability claims.
