The 2007 Honda CBR1000RR is a U.S.-spec, 998cc inline-four sportbike with dual-stage fuel injection, adjustable suspension, a close-ratio six-speed transmission and chain final drive. Honda’s published specifications describe the model, not the current condition of any used motorcycle. Before buying or servicing one, verify its market and model code, review its records, and check its VIN for open recalls.
2007 Honda CBR1000RR specifications
Honda’s U.S. specification release, dated September 6, 2006, lists the following equipment and dimensions for the 2007 model. The release notes that California versions may differ slightly because of emissions equipment.

Sources: American Honda’s 2007 specifications release and the 2007 owner’s manual. The manual gives fuel capacity as 4.76 U.S. gallons (18.0 L), while the press release rounds it to 4.8 gallons.
These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. The cited sources do not establish a measured horsepower figure, so one should not be inferred from displacement or comparisons with other motorcycles.

Fuel, oil, tires and maintenance schedule
For routine operation and maintenance, follow the motorcycle’s official 2007 owner’s manual. Its guidance includes:
- Fuel: Premium unleaded gasoline with a pump octane rating of 91 or higher.
- Engine oil: SAE 10W-30 meeting API SG or higher, subject to the manual’s listed exclusions, and JASO T 903 MA. Honda suggests Pro Honda GN4 or an equivalent motorcycle oil.
- Scheduled service: The manual’s quick reference lists an initial service at 600 miles (1,000 km), followed by regular maintenance every 4,000 miles (6,400 km). Use the full schedule and service conditions in the manual; this interval does not establish that a used bike received its services.
- Cold tire pressure: 42 psi front and 36 psi rear.
- Manual tire sizes: 120/70ZR17M/C (58W) front and 190/50ZR17M/C (73W) rear.
Honda’s U.S. press release lists the tire sizes in shorter form as 120/70ZR-17 front and 190/50ZR-17 rear. Check the individual motorcycle’s manual and tire-maker guidance before service, particularly if its market or equipment differs from the U.S. specification.

Pre-ride checks and service work
The manual calls for inspecting the motorcycle before each ride. Its quick-reference checks include tires and wheels, the chain, leaks, loose parts, lights, throttle, brakes and indicators. It warns that inadequate maintenance can affect safety; tasks requiring special tools are best left to professionals, and wheel removal normally should be handled by a Honda technician or other qualified mechanic.
Check the fuel-tank recall by VIN
A December 2007 Honda safety and emissions recall notice covers certain 2006–2007 CBR1000RR motorcycles with a potentially improperly welded fuel-tank vent pipe. Vibration could crack the weld and cause fuel to drip; if fuel meets an ignition source, the notice identifies a fire or explosion risk. Honda directed owners to have a dealer inspect the motorcycle and replace the tank if necessary, free of charge.

The recall does not automatically apply to every 2007 CBR1000RR. Enter the motorcycle’s VIN in NHTSA’s recall lookup to check for unrepaired recalls, then ask a Honda dealer to verify whether the repair was completed. A model year or seller’s assurance alone does not establish an individual bike’s recall status. The original Honda/NHTSA recall notice provides the campaign details.
What to check when buying a used 2007 CBR1000RR
Specifications identify the model as built; they cannot tell you how a particular motorcycle was maintained, repaired or modified. Request service records and inspect the bike’s current condition rather than treating model-year data as evidence about an individual example.

- Match the VIN, model code and market to the documents and any parts or manuals being considered.
- Review service records against the owner’s manual schedule, and ask for documentation of work performed.
- Check that the fitted tires match the motorcycle’s applicable specification and assess tire condition, chain condition and fluid condition.
- Verify completion of any applicable fuel-tank recall with a Honda dealer.
- Have a qualified mechanic assess concerns that require specialist tools or deeper inspection.
The year-specific 2007 CBR1000RR parts catalog identifies the CBR1000RR7 and provides exploded diagrams for areas including the engine, air cleaner, fork, brakes, wheels, battery, radiator and bodywork. Use the VIN and model code to confirm fitment: regional versions and model codes can differ, and a catalog listing is not proof that a retailer has a part in stock. Do not assume that a part fits a 2008 motorcycle simply because the model name is similar; Honda’s 2008 specifications describe a substantially revised 999cc model.

Owner’s manual for operation and routine maintenance
Honda’s official 2007 owner’s manual is 263 pages and covers safety, controls, operation, maintenance, specifications and troubleshooting. Honda says it should remain with the motorcycle when it is resold, making it useful both for ownership and for checking a used bike’s instructions.
