The compact machine is a Japanese-market utility minibike, not a truck; its cargo-minded styling explains the nickname.
What is the Honda CT50 Motra?
The Motra is a small utility-styled Honda minibike. Mecum’s archived description says Honda marketed it as “a heavy-duty recreation bike with a large load capacity.” The truck comparison refers to its utilitarian design and carrying purpose, not to its vehicle category.

Mecum’s listing says the model was produced for Japan’s domestic market from 1982 to 1983 and was never imported into the United States. Those are claims in the auction listing, not a verified production census. The cited records do not establish how many were made or how many survive.
What were its specifications?
Mecum’s 2018 listing describes the CT50 Motra with a 49cc four-stroke engine rated at 4.5 horsepower, a two-stage, three-speed transmission, and adjustable rear suspension. The auction description presents these as features of the model; it does not provide independent testing data.

What happened to the 2025 Las Vegas auction bike?
New Atlas previewed the yellow 1982 Motra ahead of Mecum’s January 2025 Las Vegas motorcycle auction. The preview reported, citing Mecum, that the bike had last been started in September 2024 and had been in storage since. Classic.com identifies the featured motorcycle as Lot W187 and records its sale on January 29, 2025, for $5,500.
Classic.com lists the bike’s VIN as AD051003957 and its odometer reading as 25,034 km (15,555 miles). Its record characterizes the motorcycle as original or highly original. The sale result and lot details are from Classic.com’s auction-history record, rather than a verified primary Mecum result page.

Earlier Mecum listings document two individual transactions. They provide historical context, not a current appraisal or a guaranteed value range.

|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 Las Vegas | 1982 Motra CT50, VIN AD051002365 | $4,400 | Mecum Auctions |

Each figure concerns a different motorcycle and auction. Differences in condition, originality, sale circumstances, and other factors are not accounted for here, so the prices should not be read as directly comparable valuations.
Is the Motra road-legal?
The available sources do not establish whether the featured 2025 motorcycle was registered or road-legal. A warning that a separate 2020 Mecum example was “Not for highway or public road use” applies to that specific lot, not automatically to every Motra. Buyers should verify the legal status of an individual bike in the relevant jurisdiction.
What auction buyers should keep in mind
Mecum says advance lot details are supplied by the consignor or seller and are not verified or guaranteed; it advises buyers to inspect a lot in person. That caveat matters for details such as condition and running status, which can change and should not be treated as a substitute for an inspection.
