The quickest cars in the surfaced 2025 list reached 60 mph in 1.9 seconds: the Lucid Air Sapphire and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package. Those are Car and Driver test results, not verified CarBuzz results. Car and Driver’s list was updated August 7, 2025, and covers vehicles tested by that date—not a final ranking of every car tested during the year.
Quickest cars in Car and Driver’s 2025 list, ranked by 0–60 mph time
Car and Driver ranks these vehicles by measured time to 60 mph. The two cars tied at 1.9 seconds are ordered here using the quarter-mile comparison reported in the article: the Lucid was quicker over that distance. No quarter-mile figures are reproduced here because the source summary does not state them.
| Rank | Vehicle | 0–60 mph | What stands out |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Lucid Air Sapphire | 1.9 seconds | Car and Driver described it as the quickest car it had ever tested at publication; it was quicker than the tied Porsche over the quarter-mile. |
| 2 | 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package | 1.9 seconds | Tied with the Lucid to 60 mph. |
| 3 | 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 | 2.2 seconds | Car and Driver called it the quickest rear-wheel-drive car it had ever tested at that time. |
| 4 | 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance 4-Door Coupe | 2.4 seconds | — |
| 5 | 2024 Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance | 2.6 seconds | — |
| 6 | Rivian R1T Tri-Motor | 2.7 seconds | Car and Driver called it the quickest truck tested in 2025 as of the update. |
| 7 | 2025 BMW M5 | 3.0 seconds | — |
| 8 | 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter | 11.8 seconds | The slowest 0–60 figure listed among the examples reported here. |
All times in the table are Car and Driver measurements from 2025, as reported in its August 7, 2025 update. The table includes the entries and figures established in the source summary; it should not be read as the complete original ranking.
What “quickest” means in this ranking
The ranking measures acceleration from rest to 60 mph, not top speed, lap time, braking, range, or overall vehicle performance. A quicker 0–60 result is one specific performance advantage; it does not establish that a car is better for a particular driver or use.

Car and Driver says its staff prepares vehicles for testing and measures acceleration with a GPS antenna and Racelogic VBox data logger, rather than relying on manufacturer claims. The figures are that publisher’s instrumented test results, not guarantees that every example will achieve the same time in every condition.
Why the list is provisional—and why the publisher matters
The source article, “The Quickest Cars We’ve Tested in 2025 (So Far)”, was written by Car and Driver technical editor Austin Irwin and updated August 7, 2025. Car and Driver said it had tested more than 120 vehicles so far that year. That makes the ranking a snapshot of tests completed by the update date; later tests could alter a year-end list.

The list mixes vehicle types and powertrains, from electric cars and plug-in hybrids to a rear-drive sports car and a pickup. The Rivian R1T’s 2.7-second result shows that the ranking is not limited to sports cars. Comparing unlike vehicles on one acceleration number can be useful, but it cannot capture their different purposes or capabilities.
