NHTSA recall 25V721 covers certain 2021–2023 Ford Broncos after a front-seat height-adjust pivot bolt was found capable of becoming loose or dislodged. Affected seats may not restrain an occupant as intended in a crash. Ford’s remedy is free replacement of the pivot links and bolts at a dealer. The 163,256 figure is the number of potentially affected vehicles—not a count of confirmed bolt failures—and only a vehicle-specific VIN check can determine whether a Bronco has an unrepaired recall.
Which Ford Broncos are included in the seat bolt recall?
The recall is NHTSA campaign 25V721, also identified by Ford as recall 25SB5. It covers certain 2021–2023 Ford Broncos. NHTSA’s October 29, 2025 acknowledgement lists 163,256 potentially affected vehicles; that total does not mean every Bronco from those model years is included. Eligibility is determined by vehicle identification number (VIN).
Ford’s manufacturer report was dated October 23, 2025. NHTSA said the affected VINs became searchable on its website beginning October 28, 2025. NHTSA recall acknowledgement 25V721.
What is the seat bolt problem, and what is the safety risk?
The issue concerns a front-seat frame height-adjust pivot bolt that may be loose or dislodged. NHTSA says a seat with a dislodged bolt may not properly restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. The recall notice does not establish that every affected Bronco has a loose bolt, or report a count of confirmed failures, crashes, injuries or deaths.

How do I check whether my Bronco is affected?
- Find the 17-character VIN. It is commonly visible at the lower-left corner of the windshield and is also on the vehicle registration; it may appear on an insurance card.
- Search by VIN. Use NHTSA’s recall lookup and enter the VIN. The VIN search reports whether that specific vehicle has an unrepaired recall.
- Contact a Ford dealer if the recall is open. Ask to arrange the free recall repair and follow any interim safety instructions Ford provides.
A year, make and model search provides general recall and safety information, not a VIN-specific determination. NHTSA’s lookup also does not show recalls that have already been repaired. If you have reason to think your Bronco may be affected but the result is unclear, check again later; newly announced recalls may not have complete VIN identification immediately, and VIN records are added continuously. Ford’s stated remedy is for dealers to replace the pivot links and bolts at no charge. The recall acknowledgement does not provide a do-it-yourself repair procedure. Because this is a safety-related seat fastener recall, arrange the repair through a Ford dealer rather than substituting generic bolts or attempting an unverified home repair.
