Jeep says limited dealer inventory may remain and that it continues to support existing owners. For shoppers, that makes model year, VIN-specific warranty coverage, service history and recall status especially important to check—not assume.
What the Wrangler 4xe is
1. It is a plug-in hybrid
Jeep describes the Wrangler 4xe powertrain as a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with an electric motor. Its three driver-selectable modes are Hybrid, Electric and eSave. The battery can be charged from an external power source, so it is not just a conventional hybrid. Jeep’s hybrid technology overview explains the modes and system behavior.
2. Production has ended
Jeep’s current U.S. 4xe resources page says the Wrangler 4xe is no longer in production. The company says limited inventory may remain at select dealers, but availability can change. Jeep also says it continues supporting existing 4xe owners with manuals, warranty information, certified service and Mopar parts. Check Jeep’s 4xe owner resources for current support information.
3. It can still be an option on a dealer lot
Because remaining inventory is limited and may vary, confirm that a particular vehicle is actually available and identify its model year and trim. For a used example, evaluate the individual vehicle rather than relying on a model-wide assumption about condition or coverage.

How its driving modes work
4. Hybrid Mode blends engine and electric power
Jeep says Hybrid Mode combines torque from the turbocharged engine and electric motor, using electric power first. The engine can also contribute, so the mode is not equivalent to driving solely on battery power.
5. Electric Mode depends on battery charge
Jeep says Electric Mode can operate when battery charge is above 1%. That is a mode-enabling threshold, not a promise of a particular distance: the actual electric distance depends on the vehicle and driving conditions, and Jeep’s published range figure is an estimate.

6. eSave prioritizes the engine
eSave prioritizes engine operation to preserve battery charge. Jeep says the mode can also be configured to increase charge. That can be useful when a driver wants to retain battery energy for later, though using the engine to charge the battery is not the same as plugging in.
7. Regenerative braking recovers some energy
Regenerative braking captures energy during deceleration. Jeep’s Max Regeneration setting increases regenerative effect and changes accelerator response; it does not replace the brake pedal. The brake pedal is still required to bring the Wrangler to a complete stop.

What Jeep’s published performance and range figures mean
8. Published output is 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft
Jeep’s Wrangler 4xe product page publishes 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, with the product-page model-year context shown as 2025. 9. Jeep lists 49 MPGe
The same Jeep page publishes an estimate of 49 MPGe. Treat that as a manufacturer figure, not an assurance of what a particular driver will achieve. Confirm its applicability to the target vehicle’s model year.

10. Jeep estimates up to 21 miles in Electric Mode
Jeep’s page lists up to 21 miles of Electric Mode driving. “Up to” is important: this is a manufacturer estimate, not a guaranteed real-world range or a figure to assume for every model year and vehicle. Driving conditions and the vehicle’s state matter, and the exact year should be checked.

11. Level 2 charging is quicker, by Jeep’s estimate
Jeep estimates approximately two hours for a full charge using an available Level 2, 240-volt charger. The actual time can vary with the charger, electrical installation and charging conditions, so treat the time as an estimate rather than a guarantee.

12. The included Level 1 charger takes longer
Jeep estimates approximately 12 hours for a full charge using the included Level 1, 120-volt charger. This is also a manufacturer estimate; actual charging time depends on conditions and the power source.
13. Check the home setup before buying charging equipment
Jeep’s services page lists an available Free2move Charge Level 2 home charging station. Before purchasing or installing any Level 2 equipment, check that it is compatible with the vehicle and connector, that the home electrical capacity and circuit are suitable, and that installation complies with local requirements. Jeep’s cited pages do not establish compatibility for a particular third-party charger model.
Warranty and service support
14. High-voltage battery coverage varies by state classification
Jeep lists high-voltage battery limited warranty coverage of 8 years or 100,000 miles in non-TZEV states and 10 years or 150,000 miles in TZEV states. These are different terms, not one nationwide coverage promise for every vehicle. Check the specific vehicle’s warranty documents and VIN; Jeep’s warranty information directs owners to sign in to their vehicle dashboard or search by VIN to learn whether coverage remains valid.
15. Mopar-certified service centers can service a 4xe
Jeep says any Mopar-certified service center can service a Jeep 4xe. Its owner resources also direct owners to Mopar for genuine parts. Use Jeep’s 4xe support page for the dealer locator and related owner information.
What to check before buying a used Wrangler 4xe
16. Compare the individual vehicle, not just the nameplate
For each candidate, confirm its model year and trim, remaining battery and powertrain warranty by VIN, charging equipment and access to 120-volt or 240-volt power, and recorded service history. Also check current recall and campaign status by VIN. Jeep’s general support information does not establish the recall status of any particular vehicle, so use the official NHTSA recall lookup and ask a dealer about applicable campaigns.
