China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) announced a recall of 116,887 Xiaomi SU7 Standard Edition electric vehicles because the L2 highway navigation-assisted driving system may not adequately recognize, warn about or handle certain extreme scenarios. Xiaomi’s announced remedy is a free over-the-air (OTA) software upgrade. Owners should confirm whether their individual vehicle is included and whether its repair is complete through Xiaomi’s official channels.
What is the Xiaomi SU7 smart-driving recall about?
SAMR’s September 19, 2025 notice says that, in certain situations while L2 highway navigation-assisted driving is active, some affected vehicles may be insufficient at recognizing, warning about or handling “extreme special scenarios.” The regulator says collision risk may increase if the driver does not intervene promptly. The notice does not identify one universal failure event or say the system fails in every such situation. SAMR’s recall announcement attributes the filing to Xiaomi Automobile Technology Co., Ltd.; it does not name an individual spokesperson.
This is an assisted-driving safety issue, not a basis for treating the feature as autonomous driving. The notice describes a conditional risk and does not provide a crash-risk rate or statistics about incidents caused by the defect.
Which Xiaomi SU7 vehicles are included?
The announced campaign covers 116,887 SU7 Standard Edition vehicles produced from February 6, 2024, through August 30, 2025. It does not cover every Xiaomi model. SAMR divides the total between two filings:

The two filings total 116,887 vehicles. SAMR’s recall-center record for S2025M0149I gives details for that 98,462-vehicle filing, including an affected SU7 2024 rear-wheel-drive long-range intelligent-driving variant and a VIN range. Those details apply to that filing; the listed VIN range should not be treated as a complete check for all vehicles in both filings.
How can I check whether my SU7 is included?
The public recall notices cannot verify an individual car’s coverage or repair status. Xiaomi said it would notify owners by text message and mobile app. If you are unsure whether your car received a notice, contact Xiaomi using the customer-service number published by SAMR: 400-182-6888. Have your vehicle information available so Xiaomi can confirm the status for your specific car.

What should owners do about the recall update?
SAMR says Xiaomi will provide a free OTA software upgrade for vehicles in the recall population. Follow the instructions in Xiaomi’s owner notification and confirm directly with the company that the update has been applied and the recall is closed for your vehicle. Do not assume an update is complete solely because the campaign was announced or because its published implementation window has passed.
For filing S2025M0149I, the recall-center record lists an implementation period of September 12, 2025, to January 12, 2026. That date range describes the planned period for that filing; the notice does not establish that every repair was completed. The available notices likewise do not confirm the completion status of the full 116,887-vehicle population.

How is this different from other Xiaomi SU7 recalls?
SAMR has announced separate SU7 recalls for unrelated problems. Keeping their defects and remedies distinct helps avoid confusing them with the September 2025 highway-assisted-driving campaign.

The January 2025 and August 2026 notices concern different defects. Their vehicle populations should not be added to the 116,887 vehicles in the September 2025 assisted-driving recall.
