The Tesla Model Y is not one fixed specification: its five US-market 2026 configurations differ in range, acceleration, charging limits, seating, cargo capacity and warranty coverage. The figures below are Tesla’s listings checked October 7, 2026—not independent test results—and may change. Check the exact vehicle, model year and market before buying.
1. Which 2026 Model Y trims are available in the US?
Tesla’s US product page lists five configurations: Standard RWD, Standard AWD, Premium AWD, Performance AWD and Model Y L Premium. Their specifications are not interchangeable. Tesla lists the following EPA-estimated ranges, acceleration and maximum Supercharging rates:

2. How much range does a Tesla Model Y get?
Tesla lists EPA-estimated ranges from 294 miles for Standard AWD to 332 miles for Model Y L Premium. An EPA estimate is a comparison figure, not a promise of how far a particular car will travel between charges. Tesla’s page notes that its claims are tied to the configuration tested and that actual range depends on driving behavior and environment.

Speed, weather, elevation, battery temperature, vehicle configuration and accessories can all affect range. Use the estimate to compare trims, then plan trips around conditions and charging stops rather than assuming you will reach the published number on every drive.
3. How long does it take to charge?
Tesla lists maximum Supercharging power of 225 kW for Standard variants and 250 kW for Premium, Performance and Model Y L. Maximum power is not a fixed charging speed: a car’s state of charge and battery temperature, as well as the charger and conditions, affect how quickly it charges. Tesla advertises up to 160 miles added in 15 minutes for Standard RWD on its stated constant-speed basis; that estimate does not guarantee a 15-minute stop will add that much range.
For a road trip, use Tesla’s in-car route planning and follow the vehicle’s charging guidance. The 2025+ North American Model Y Owner’s Manual covers charging and battery preconditioning; its instructions and menus may not match earlier model years or other regions.

4. Can a Model Y seat seven?
It depends on the configuration. Tesla lists Standard and Performance as five-seat vehicles, Premium as available with up to seven seats, and Model Y L Premium with up to six. Do not infer the seat count from the Model Y name alone. If you expect to use a third row, inspect the exact vehicle and check the space with your passengers or child seats before committing.

Tesla lists cargo capacities of 74 cubic feet for Standard RWD, 74.8 cubic feet for Standard AWD, 76 cubic feet for Premium and Performance, and 89 cubic feet for Model Y L. The capacity varies by trim, so compare the listing for the specific configuration you are considering. For everyday practicality, test the cargo area with the items you routinely carry and account for any seats you need in use.
6. Which trim makes sense for your driving?
Acceleration is one difference: Tesla lists 0–60 mph times from 6.8 seconds for Standard RWD to 3.3 seconds for Performance. Drivetrain, wheel size and ground clearance also vary by configuration. Those differences may matter more to one buyer than another, so weigh them against your priorities rather than assuming the quickest trim is the best fit.

Wheel size is also worth checking before purchase. Larger wheels and trim equipment can affect comfort, tire replacement cost and efficiency, but Tesla’s listed specifications do not quantify those ownership effects. Compare the exact wheel option, tire requirements and likely replacement considerations for the vehicle you intend to buy.
7. What should you know about home charging?
Charging at home can make daily charging convenient, and Tesla notes that overnight charging may use lower-cost electricity. Your actual cost depends on your utility tariff, charging losses and how much electricity you use; there is no universal home-versus-public cost comparison that applies to every household.

8. What is the Model Y warranty?
Tesla’s general warranty page lists a basic vehicle warranty of four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Its listed battery and drive-unit coverage differs by configuration:

These terms come from Tesla’s warranty information checked in 2026. The page is for general knowledge and says the warranty provided with the particular vehicle is authoritative. Confirm coverage for the vehicle’s exact trim, model year, purchase date and jurisdiction in Tesla’s warranty information.

10. What should owners know about the manual, accessories and maintenance?
Use the manual for your vehicle and region
The 2025+ North American Model Y manual page displayed software version 2026.32 when checked. It covers charging, scheduled charging and preconditioning, range, battery health, tire care, maintenance intervals, accessories and emergency procedures. Use the manual matching your vehicle’s model year and region: menus and instructions are not necessarily the same across versions.
Check fitment before adding accessories
Tesla’s manual says accessories can affect expected range and vehicle dimensions, and that some products may not be available in every region. For a query such as “Tesla Model Y floor mats,” verify exact model year and seat-layout fitment before ordering. That phrase is not an endorsement of any listing, and aftermarket mats should not be assumed to be Tesla-approved.
Follow model-specific care guidance
The manual includes guidance on tire care, wipers, cleaning, jacking, accessories and a temporary tire repair kit. Tesla also says it cannot assess parts made by other distributors. Check the vehicle’s manual and product instructions before using third-party parts or equipment.
How to compare Model Y configurations
- Match drivetrain and acceleration to the way you drive.
- Compare Tesla’s EPA estimates with your daily mileage and likely road-trip routes.
- Check seat count, cargo capacity and child-seat fit on the actual vehicle.
- Consider charging access and the conditions on the routes you travel.
- Compare wheel sizes and tire requirements for the exact trim.
- Confirm warranty terms for the vehicle’s model year, purchase date and region.
Tesla’s listed specifications are useful for comparing configurations, but they do not establish independent real-world range, long-term reliability, ownership cost or safety outcomes.
