The 2025 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP brings revisions to its engine, gearing, electronics, chassis, suspension, brakes, riding position and aerodynamics. Here are the key details, using American Honda’s U.S.-model specifications and feature descriptions; figures and equipment may differ in other markets.
1. What changed for 2025?
Honda describes the 2025 model as a substantial update, with changes spanning the powertrain, chassis and rider interface. Its stated goals include stronger midrange response, improved acceleration and corner-exit drive, and greater rider control. Those are manufacturer objectives, not independently measured performance results.

Honda’s U.S. specifications release is dated July 23, 2024. The manufacturer says California models may differ slightly because of emissions equipment and that specifications are subject to change. 2. What engine and gearing does it use?
Revised 1,000cc inline-four
American Honda lists a 1,000cc liquid-cooled, 32-degree inline-four with DOHC and four valves per cylinder, an 81.0 mm bore, 48.5 mm stroke and 13.6:1 compression ratio. Fueling is PGM-FI with 52 mm throttle bodies. For 2025, Honda identifies raised compression, revised valve timing, new three-stage unequal-pitch valve springs, lighter crankcases, and reduced crankshaft and connecting-rod inertial mass. Honda says the revisions target midrange performance and throttle response; the cited material does not provide an independent dyno result.

Shorter ratios throughout
Honda says the primary drive and all six gear ratios are shorter, with the aim of improving acceleration and drive out of corners. The U.S. specification lists a manual six-speed transmission and 16T/44T final drive with a #525 chain. No specific acceleration gain is established by the manufacturer material cited here.
3. How configurable are the throttle and rider aids?
The revised two-motor throttle-by-wire system lets the rider configure response and engine braking. Honda lists nine HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control) levels and three default riding modes. Power, Engine Brake, HSTC and Wheelie Control can be customized, allowing riders to adjust the electronic settings to their preferences and conditions.

4. How does the electronic Öhlins suspension work?
The U.S. SP specification lists a 43 mm Öhlins NPX electronically controlled front fork and a Pro-Link rear suspension with an electronically controlled Öhlins shock. Honda lists 4.9 inches of front travel and 5.6 inches of rear travel. Its feature release identifies the system as third-generation S-EC3.0 (SV), with spool-valve internals and an OBTi (Objective Based Tuning interface). Honda says riders can store three suspension modes and use a preload guide screen.

| Mode | Honda’s stated purpose or behavior |
|---|---|
| STANDARD | Aimed at road use. |
| TRACK | Intended for braking from higher circuit speeds; it does not suppress rear-wheel lift. |
| RACE | Turns off rear ABS and removes Cornering ABS input. |
The modes are distinct configurations, not interchangeable guarantees of braking performance. Choose a setting suited to conditions and remember that ABS does not replace rider judgment or safe braking technique.
6. What changed about the riding position and aerodynamics?
Honda says the handlebars are raised and the footpegs lowered to increase rider freedom and control. It also describes reshaped middle-fairing winglets and a rear aero step on the lower fairing. These are design changes and stated aims; the cited release does not quantify their effects on comfort, downforce or lap times.

7. How heavy is it, and how tall is the seat?
American Honda lists a 445 lb curb weight, 32.7-inch seat height, 57.2-inch wheelbase and 4.4-gallon fuel capacity for the 2025 U.S. model. Honda defines curb weight as including standard equipment, required fluids and a full tank. The U.S. specification sheet lists Grand Prix Red.
8. What tire sizes does the Fireblade SP use?
Honda lists a 120/70ZR-17 front tire and a 200/55ZR-17 rear tire. Its feature material says the rear size is intended to minimize chassis-geometry changes when switching between street and track tires. That explanation is Honda’s design rationale, not a guarantee for every aftermarket tire. Before replacing either tire, confirm exact fitment, load and speed ratings, and the tire maker’s recommendations.
9. What does the official information establish—and what does it not?
Honda’s U.S. material describes the motorcycle as street legal and track ready and documents its listed features and specifications. It does not establish independent lap times, instrumented acceleration or braking results, current U.S. pricing, dealer inventory, or fuel economy. Those claims require separate, dated evidence; none is supplied in the cited manufacturer material.
