Its new hybrid broadens the choices, and the V6 has a listed U.S. starting estimated net price of $39,435 before freight, taxes and dealer pricing. It is not an automatic fit for every buyer: fuel economy depends on configuration, towing targets differ by powertrain, and specific vehicles may be subject to recalls. Here is what to weigh before choosing one.
What makes the 2026 Palisade appealing?
The Palisade’s case rests on everyday three-row usefulness paired with a comfort-oriented cabin and a broad equipment offering. Hyundai offers seating configurations that include second-row captain’s chairs; the AP-distributed Edmunds comparison notes that the Palisade can also offer relaxation seating for front passengers and captain’s chairs in the second row. Those are available features, not standard equipment on every trim.

In a test of an XRT Pro, Tom’s Guide reviewer described the cabin as accommodating ordinary family errands and noted that the third row folds to open cargo space. That is one reviewer’s experience in one configuration, rather than a guarantee that every household will find the Palisade’s cabin or size ideal.
How much does the 2026 Hyundai Palisade cost?
Hyundai’s U.S. product page lists a starting estimated net price of $39,435. This is a listed starting figure, not an out-the-door quote: freight, tax, title and license are excluded, and freight charges and dealer pricing can vary. Check the current trim and local dealer price before comparing offers. Hyundai’s Palisade page is the source for the listed price and current product details.

Which powertrain should you choose?
The lineup offers a V6 and a newly added hybrid. Hyundai’s April 2025 launch announcement gives manufacturer estimates and towing targets; confirm the final rating for the exact trim and configuration before buying or towing.
| Powertrain | Configuration and specifications | Towing target |
|---|---|---|
| 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 | Eight-speed automatic; two-wheel drive or HTRAC all-wheel drive. Hyundai estimated up to 287 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. | Up to 5,000 lb, a manufacturer target. |
| 2.5-liter turbocharged hybrid | Electric motors and a six-speed automatic. Hyundai estimated up to 329 hp and 339 lb-ft combined. | Up to 4,000 lb, a manufacturer target. |
These are estimates and targets in Hyundai’s April 2025 launch release, not a substitute for a current window sticker or finalized, trim-specific ratings. The hybrid’s estimated output and towing target are not identical to the V6’s, so the right choice depends on the balance you need among fuel costs, towing, AWD availability and equipment.

How many miles per gallon does the 2026 Palisade get?
Hyundai lists these U.S. EPA estimates for the V6. They vary by configuration, and the XRT figure is specifically for XRT HTRAC AWD. The figures below do not apply to the hybrid.
| V6 configuration | City | Highway | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| FWD | 19 mpg | 25 mpg | 21 mpg |
| HTRAC AWD | 18 mpg | 24 mpg | 20 mpg |
| XRT HTRAC AWD | 16 mpg | 22 mpg | 19 mpg |
Hyundai says actual mileage varies with options, driving conditions and habits, and vehicle condition. The hybrid’s EPA rating is not established by these V6 figures; check current certification for the specific hybrid trim. In a single Tom’s Guide test of an XRT Pro, the reviewer recorded 16.7 mpg over 115.5 miles. That one test result, under its own conditions, should not be treated as a typical owner result. See Tom’s Guide’s XRT Pro review.

Is the 2026 Palisade safe?
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) displays good ratings for the 2026 Palisade in its listed crashworthiness categories, headlights and standard front crash-prevention systems, and awards it Top Safety Pick+. The award applies only to vehicles built after November 2025; it should not be assumed for every vehicle sold as a 2026 model. IIHS also explains that some ratings are based on manufacturer-conducted tests. Check the IIHS 2026 Palisade ratings for the specific award and test details.

NHTSA recall reports identify issues affecting specified Palisade and Palisade Hybrid vehicles—not every 2026 Palisade. The reported population is not a count of confirmed injuries, nor does a report establish the status of an individual vehicle.

- Improved design - features high-pressure, die-cast aluminum housing construction to more reliably replace the failure-prone plastic housing on specified vehicles
- Smarter solution - includes required gaskets for a seamless, professional repair
- Trustworthy quality - engineered in the United States and made with durable materials to precise specifications, including premium seals to further help resist future leaks
- Repair it once - don't replace a cracked oil filter adapter with one that can fail the same way again; fix it the right way with this improved design
- Ensure fit - Input your vehicle into the garage tool and check Confirmed Fit bar at the top of the page. If there is an “i” in a blue circle, additional verification is needed. Please hover over the "i" to verify fitment notes match your vehicle.
- Recall 26V160, filed April 21, 2026: NHTSA lists 61,097 potentially involved vehicles across Palisade and Palisade Hybrid populations. On certain Limited and Calligraphy vehicles, second- and third-row power seats may fail to respond to contact with an occupant or object during powered functions, including automatic folding and second-row walk-in movement. NHTSA warns of potential injury or death. Details are in the NHTSA 26V160 report.
- Recall 26V169, filed March 19, 2026: NHTSA lists 46,787 potentially involved vehicles across Palisade and Palisade Hybrid populations. For specified production dates and trims, wiring at the third-row left-side seat-belt buckle may be damaged, preventing detection of belt-latch status and increasing injury risk in a crash. See the NHTSA 26V169 report.
For a vehicle you are considering or own, enter its VIN in the NHTSA recall lookup and ask a Hyundai dealer to confirm whether any applicable remedy has been completed. A recall report alone cannot tell you the current status of a particular VIN.

Should you buy the Palisade or the Kia Telluride?
The Palisade and Telluride are mechanically related and share many similarities, according to the AP-distributed Edmunds comparison. That makes a trim-to-trim and test-drive comparison more useful than assuming one is categorically better. Edmunds notes that the Palisade can offer more front legroom and optional relaxation seating for front passengers, as well as second-row captain’s chairs; these are review observations and equipment distinctions, not a universal verdict on comfort.
Compare the exact versions you would buy: price by trim, seat layout, access to the third row, cargo needs, powertrain and expected fuel expense, towing, AWD and safety equipment. A hybrid choice may matter if fuel use is central, while towing requirements can favor a different configuration. The shared platform does not mean the two vehicles have identical features or prices.
