It pairs the Fat Boy’s Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom and modern rider aids with a mirror-like finish and commemorative details marking 35 years of the model. Here are 10 things the announced motorcycle brings, based on Harley-Davidson’s US model specifications and 2025 launch announcement.
1. It is a 35th-anniversary Icons model
Harley-Davidson introduced the Gray Ghost as the fifth installment in its Icons Motorcycle Collection, commemorating the Fat Boy’s 35th anniversary. The company traces the Fat Boy’s debut to 1990. The model’s official spelling is “Gray Ghost,” although the supplied title uses “Grey.”
2. Production is limited to 1,990 numbered motorcycles
Harley-Davidson announced a global production limit of 1,990. Each motorcycle is individually numbered, and the company says the model will not be made again. That launch figure does not establish how many remain available now; current dealer inventory and remaining numbered units are not confirmed by the announcement.
3. Its announced US MSRP was $25,399
Harley-Davidson’s May 8, 2025 launch release listed a US MSRP of $25,399. The US model page lists $25,399 and notes that taxes, title, licensing, and other fees may apply. This is an announcement-era US price, not a current dealer quote or an all-in purchase cost.

4. The finish is the main visual distinction
The fuel tank and fenders wear Harley-Davidson’s chrome-like PVD Reflection finish beneath clear coat. Silver and yellow details—including the yellow timing-cover accent and tank medallion—recall the original bike’s styling. The reflective surfaces and heritage palette are cosmetic features, not performance upgrades.
5. It has edition-specific commemorative trim
Beyond its finish, the special edition includes an Icons medallion on the rear fender, a numbered tank-console insert, a leather tank strap, and details on its two-piece seat cover. Harley-Davidson also identifies a circular air cleaner, original Fat Boy seat, and tank-strap lacing details among the Gray Ghost’s heritage touches. These distinguish the edition from the standard 2025 Fat Boy without changing its stated engine output.

6. The Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom makes more power than the prior 114
Harley-Davidson lists the 117 Custom at 101 hp at 4,800 rpm and 122 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm. In its May 2025 release, the manufacturer said those figures represent 7% more horsepower and 3% more torque than the 2024 Fat Boy 114. This is Harley-Davidson’s comparison, not an independent test.
7. The exhaust and rear suspension are revised
The Gray Ghost has an updated two-into-two high-flow exhaust design that Harley-Davidson says honors the original pipes. The company also says it retuned the rear monoshock for comfort and firmness. Without an independent road test, those descriptions should be treated as the manufacturer’s design intent rather than measured evidence of how the bike rides.

8. Classic-looking instruments share the bike with modern lighting and ride modes
A 7-inch LED headlamp and LED rear lighting bring current lighting technology to the classic-styled cruiser. Its 5-inch tank-mounted analog gauge is paired with a digital display showing ride information, including gear position. Riders can select Road, Rain, or Sport mode, and cruise control is listed as standard equipment.
9. Rider-assistance electronics are part of the package
Harley-Davidson lists ABS, traction control, drag-torque slip control, tire-pressure monitoring, and cornering-enhanced versions of relevant systems. These electronic aids can support rider control under particular conditions; they cannot eliminate the risk of a skid, loss of control, or collision.

10. It is a heavy, low cruiser with wide rear rubber

Is the Gray Ghost mechanically different from the 2025 Fat Boy?
Harley-Davidson says the Gray Ghost shares the 2025 Fat Boy’s technical features. Its distinction is the PVD Reflection finish, circular air cleaner, original Fat Boy seat and tank-strap lacing details, and yellow accents, alongside its commemorative and serialized trim. A buyer comparing it with another cruiser should weigh the actual dealer quote, specifications and equipment against the value they place on this limited-edition finish and heritage treatment. No independent comparative test or current dealer-price check is established here.
