Yes, you can still buy or find genuinely exciting SUVs without turbochargers. The strongest recent choices range from the 2024 Toyota 4Runner and Nissan Armada to the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban and GMC Yukon, while used-market standouts include the Lexus LX 570 and GX 460. Availability depends heavily on model year, trim and country.

What “naturally aspirated” means for an SUV
A naturally aspirated (NA) engine draws air into the cylinders without a turbocharger or supercharger. Power delivery generally builds in a predictable line with engine speed, so the accelerator feels immediate and easy to modulate on loose surfaces, while the engine’s intake and exhaust note remains part of the experience.

Fuel-economy ratings also vary by country, drivetrain, wheel size and test cycle, so compare the local certification label for the exact vehicle rather than assuming one figure applies everywhere.

Why each one still appeals to enthusiasts
2024 Toyota 4Runner — the predictable off-road tool
The 4Runner’s naturally aspirated V6 is appealing because its throttle response is linear and easy to meter when climbing, descending or placing the vehicle on a trail. Toyota offers available four-wheel drive, and the documented towing capacity gives it useful trailer-duty range without turning it into a full-size SUV. Treat the 2024 specification as a recent-model or used purchase rather than assuming every newer 4Runner uses the same engine.
2024 Nissan Armada — the high-speed full-size V8
Nissan’s press material explicitly identifies the Armada’s Endurance V8 induction as naturally aspirated. Its large displacement and V8 cadence suit drivers who want effortless response at highway speeds and a traditional full-size-SUV character. Check the exact 2024 vehicle’s equipment and local certification before comparing it with later Armadas.
2025 Chevrolet Tahoe — choose the 6.2 for the enthusiast brief
The Tahoe offers two naturally aspirated V8 routes in the documented 2025 specifications. The 5.3 is the broad-use choice; the 6.2 is the one to seek when stronger acceleration and a more emphatic V8 soundtrack matter most. Chevrolet describes the model this way: “With three engine options to choose from, the new Tahoe gives you all of the performance and capability you need to go everywhere you want.” Confirm the engine code on the window sticker because the Tahoe lineup also includes a non-V8 option.

2025 Chevrolet Suburban — NA V8 power with the most room
The Suburban uses the same documented V8 choices as the Tahoe but stretches the package for buyers who need three rows and the greatest cargo length in this Chevrolet SUV family. Its appeal is less about nimble driving than carrying people, luggage and trailers while retaining naturally aspirated V8 response. Verify trim-specific engine availability before ordering.
2025 GMC Yukon — a close cousin that requires a trim check
GMC lists a 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 family for the Yukon, but its newsroom material documents a 355-hp specification rather than one universal output for every trim. That makes the Yukon a strong candidate for a premium full-size experience, provided you confirm the engine, calibration and equipment on the exact vehicle.
2020 Lexus LX 570 — luxury, full-time four-wheel drive and V8 character
The LX 570 combines its naturally aspirated V8 with full-time four-wheel drive and a luxury-off-road mission. It is a used purchase, so condition, maintenance records, suspension components and drivetrain service matter more than the original brochure. For buyers who value a durable-feeling, traditional 4×4 experience, it remains one of the distinctive options here.

2024 Honda Passport — the manageable daily-driver choice
The Passport is the most approachable alternative to the full-size V8s: a two-row SUV with an available all-wheel-drive system and a naturally aspirated V6. Its shorter, simpler format suits daily use while retaining meaningful towing ability. Look at the exact drivetrain and tow-equipment configuration, since not every Passport is identically equipped.

Dodge Durango — separate the NA Hemi from the Hellcat
Durango engine availability changes by model year and trim. Earlier versions with the 5.7-liter Hemi are the naturally aspirated picks. Mopar’s 2025 listing also shows a 6.2-liter SRT Hellcat option, but that engine is supercharged and therefore does not belong in an NA comparison. A used buyer should verify the VIN, engine code and build year rather than relying on a Durango badge alone.
2023 Nissan Patrol — a regional V6/V8 recommendation
Nissan’s 2023 Middle East catalogue presents naturally aspirated V6 and V8 Patrol variants. The V6 specification is documented here; the V8 listing confirms the configuration exists in that regional range but does not establish one universal output. The Patrol is therefore a market-specific recommendation, not evidence that a new naturally aspirated V8 Patrol is available through U.S. dealers.

Lexus GX 460 — the used V8 sweet spot
Natural Resources Canada’s fuel table records the GX 460 as a 4.6-liter, eight-cylinder vehicle. Its body-on-frame layout and V8 response explain the enthusiast following, while its used status means purchase condition and prior off-road use are decisive. Confirm the country-specific equipment and emissions specification before importing or cross-shopping one.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which NA SUV fits a particular mission?
- Best trail-oriented, recent choice: Toyota 4Runner, for its linear controls, available 4WD and documented towing capability.
- Best full-size V8 sound and response: Nissan Armada, provided a 2024 example is available in your market.
- Best current U.S. V8 performance choice: Chevrolet Tahoe with the 6.2-liter engine, subject to trim availability.
- Best maximum-space choice: Chevrolet Suburban with its three-row, long-body layout.
- Best luxury off-road used SUV: Lexus LX 570, with full-time four-wheel drive and a traditional V8 drivetrain.
- Best two-row daily driver: Honda Passport for a less bulky package with available all-wheel drive.
- Best used V8 alternative: Lexus GX 460, if a body-on-frame platform and older-vehicle ownership make sense.
- Best regional wildcard: Nissan Patrol, but only where the Middle East specification is actually sold and supported.
What to verify before buying
- Confirm the model year and country-market specification; the same nameplate can change engines between regions and generations.
- Check the VIN or window sticker for the engine, drivetrain and tow package instead of assuming a trim includes the advertised hardware.
- For a Durango, distinguish the naturally aspirated 5.7-liter Hemi from the supercharged Hellcat.
- For used LX, GX, Armada and 4Runner examples, obtain service records and inspect cooling, transmission, four-wheel-drive and suspension systems.
- Compare the local fuel-economy label and fuel prices with your annual mileage. Large NA engines reward response and sound, but fuel cost is part of the ownership decision.
Are naturally aspirated SUVs disappearing?
They are becoming more dependent on model year, trim and region rather than vanishing everywhere at once. Current U.S. shoppers still have V8 choices in the Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon families, while the 4Runner, Armada and Passport represent recent non-turbo alternatives. Other compelling examples now require a used-vehicle search or a regional market such as the Middle East. That is why a precise “how many remain?” answer is not available without defining a country, year and engine type.
