The strongest leads include the manual Honda Civic Si, all-wheel-drive Subaru WRX, and BMW 3 Series, while the Mazda3 sedan and Hyundai Elantra N Line merit a closer look with more limited evidence. The Acura Integra is also relevant if you count five-door liftbacks. Below, each entry is labeled for what its sources actually establish; none is presented as a personal or independent road test unless noted.
What qualifies as a fun-to-drive sedan?
Driving enjoyment can mean a responsive engine, an engaging transmission, confident cornering, or useful traction in poor weather. Those traits do not guarantee a comfortable daily commute, and published specifications cannot substitute for a road test. The current sources do not provide consistent, independent testing across ten distinct 2026 sedans, so this is an evidence-based shortlist rather than a ranked top ten.
Manufacturer specifications below are identified as such. Subjective character claims are attributed to the source that makes them; where the evidence is thin, the entry says so.
2026 sedans and sedan-adjacent cars to shortlist
1. Honda Civic Si: the manual-transmission choice
Honda lists the 2026 Civic Si with a 200-hp, 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, a six-speed manual, a helical limited-slip differential, and sport-tuned suspension. Its product page says the combination of horsepower, manual transmission, and limited-slip differential “promises exceptional power and control.” That is Honda’s characterization, not an independent test verdict. Honda lists a starting MSRP of $31,495; destination, options, and dealer pricing can change the amount a buyer pays. Honda’s 2026 Civic Si specifications and pricing.

It is the clearest fit here for a driver who wants to shift manually and values front-wheel-drive cornering hardware. The specifications establish the setup, but do not quantify ride comfort or prove how it compares on a road or track.
2. Subaru WRX: power with standard all-wheel drive
Subaru lists the 2026 WRX with a 271-hp, 2.4-liter turbocharged engine, standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, and track-tuned suspension. The starting price on Subaru’s product page is $32,495. These are manufacturer specifications and positioning; they support a case based on power and all-weather traction, not a claim that every driver will enjoy the WRX’s character. Consider it if traction and turbocharged power matter more to you than choosing a car solely for a particular steering or handling feel. The cited information does not settle that subjective comparison.

3. BMW 3 Series: a sports-sedan proposition
BMW presents the 2026 3 Series as a sports sedan. Its published specifications list 255 horsepower for the 330i and 330i xDrive. Those figures and BMW’s description make the model a plausible driver-focused choice, but the available information here does not provide an independent road-test verdict or a measured comparison with the other cars on this list. The distinction between the two listed versions is drivetrain: the xDrive designation identifies BMW’s all-wheel-drive version. Choose between them based on your traction needs and the exact configuration and pricing available to you; the cited source does not establish a universal handling advantage for either.
4. Mazda3 sedan: a promising compact, with a body-style caveat
Cars.com describes the current Mazda3 compact sedan as fun to drive, and Mazda’s U.S. site lists the sedan lineup. That gives the car a stronger driving-enjoyment lead than specifications alone, although the cited material does not provide a specific sedan test result or a detailed comparison with the cars above. Do not apply the reported 5.6-second 0–60-mph result for an all-wheel-drive turbo Mazda3 to the sedan: the available review result does not establish that the tested body style was a sedan. For a sedan buyer, the useful next step is to confirm the exact body style, engine, and drivetrain in any test being considered.
5. Hyundai Elantra N Line: turbo power and useful efficiency figures
Hyundai lists the 2026 Elantra N Line with a 201-hp, 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and EPA estimates of 28 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 31 mpg combined. These official figures make it a plausible shortlist candidate for someone seeking a turbocharged compact sedan without ignoring fuel economy. They do not establish how entertaining the car is to drive; the cited manufacturer page is not an independent evaluation. Hyundai’s 2026 Elantra N Line specifications.

The Integra is a five-door liftback, not a conventional sedan with a separate trunk. It belongs on a broad list of sedan-like cars only if you are comfortable including that body style; shoppers who require a traditional sedan should treat it separately.
7. Kia K4 GT-Line Turbo: a style-and-equipment counterpoint
Car and Driver’s 2025 test of the Kia K4 GT-Line Turbo described its styling as sporty but said its dynamics were not as sporty as some rivals. The publication recorded 7.3 seconds from 0 to 60 mph for the car it tested. That is a test result for that tested vehicle—not a manufacturer rating—and the review makes the K4 more useful here as a counterpoint than as a proven leader in driving fun. Car and Driver’s Kia K4 coverage.
The test is from 2025 and does not, by itself, establish the specifications or driving character of a 2026 model. Confirm model year and equipment before applying its result to a purchase decision.

Why this is not a verified ten-car ranking
The assignment calls for ten distinct current-model-year sedans, but the available evidence does not substantiate ten independent driving picks. Reaching that number by counting multiple trims as separate cars, treating manufacturer marketing as a road test, or carrying old comparisons forward would overstate what is known.
For example, Car and Driver compared the Civic Si with the Hyundai Elantra N and Volkswagen Jetta GLI in a 2022 test. That comparison is historical context, not evidence for current 2026 versions or a present-day ranking. Car and Driver’s 2022 comparison test.
How to choose among these leads
- Want a manual and front-wheel-drive cornering hardware? Start with the Civic Si’s published six-speed manual and helical limited-slip differential.
- Prioritize all-wheel-drive traction and power? The WRX’s published standard all-wheel drive and 271-hp engine make it the clearest match on those criteria.
- Want a sports-sedan option with a premium-brand focus? Consider the BMW 330i or 330i xDrive, while seeking an independent test of the exact version you intend to buy.
- Open to a liftback rather than a conventional sedan? Include the Integra in your search, and check the specific trim and transmission.
- Shopping compact sedans more broadly? Keep the Mazda3 sedan and Elantra N Line on the list, but look for independent tests of the exact body style, engine, and drivetrain before treating either as a proven standout.
In every case, compare the configuration you can actually buy: transmission, drivetrain, engine, price, and equipment can change what a model offers. A meaningful driving comparison should also assess steering, cornering, ride comfort, and low-speed response in the exact version being considered.
