The automotive world is going electric, and with the sustained success of Tesla, it’s no surprise that tons of other startup companies are trying their hand at producing all-electric vehicles. Below we’ve highlighted 10 of the newest car brands in both the US and the EU to produce these vehicles.

You’ll start seeing vehicles from these companies hitting the market in no time, so you might want to get ahead of the curve by checking them out here first!

1. VinFast

Vinfast FVE35

While you likely haven’t seen any VinFast vehicles on the road in the United States or the EU just yet, they’re coming. VinFast is a Vietnamese auto manufacturer, and they’re looking to bring five different models to the United States as soon as 2023.

They aim to serve a different market with each vehicle, meaning they’ll likely have an option that interests you. Currently, the VF8 City Edition is the only vehicle available in select regions of the United States, but you can put in reservations for the VF8 and VF9 models as well.

Meanwhile, the VF6 and VF7 models have an option for you to “Stay Updated” on their website. Still, it doesn’t seem like it’ll be long before you start to see quite a few VinFast vehicles on the road in the United States.

2. Lucid

VinFast

Lucid Motors is a California-based luxury electric vehicle company with its fair share of ups and downs over the last two years. They already have some vehicles on the road but want to expand their offerings in the coming years.

Currently, Lucid Motors makes some outstanding vehicle options, but the problem for most everyday consumers is the price. Their current offerings start at more than $87,000 and the Air Sapphire starts at $249,000!

It’s a luxury brand for sure, but if they successfully follow the Tesla mold it won’t be too long before they start trying to push into the everyday consumer market.

3. Rivian

Rivian

Rivian is another company that already has some vehicles on the road in the United States, but they’re still an up-and-coming company hoping to expand into the current market. They make two different vehicle options, an SUV and a truck.

Both models start in the mid-70s, so they’re not making vehicles for the everyday consumer just yet. Still, they’re more affordable than many other luxury vehicle options. Rivian all-electric vehicles are more about getting you off-road and letting you explore the wilderness like you would in a Jeep or another similar vehicle.

And if they can pull off those capabilities Rivian will be a company to watch for years to come.

4. Indi EV

Indi EV

Indi EV is another California auto manufacturer specializing in all-electric vehicles. In 2023 they’re set to release their first vehicle model in the United States, the Indi One. They’ve yet to announce a European release date but said it should come at a later date.

The standard range of an Indi One is 230 miles, but they’re also releasing a long-range version that can go up to 300 miles on a single charge.

Unlike many EV manufacturers, the Indi EV is starting with a more affordable price tag with the standard model starting at $45,000 and the Premium version starting at $69,000.

5. DeLorean

DeLorean Car

With electric cars being the way of the future, it was only a matter of time before someone tried to take off with the DeLorean name. Currently, the DeLorean is a very exclusive vehicle, with the company only scheduling the production of 9,531 cars in 2024.

Not only do you need to join the Alphas club with an $88 membership fee but you’ll also need to spend $2,500 for a randomized production slot. All this is just for the chance to purchase a the Alpha5, which has an estimated price of over $125,000.

If you are lucky enough to get behind the wheel of an Alpha5, it will have some impressive performance specs. It will have a 300-mile range and the ability to take you from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.99 seconds.

You’re not going to see a ton of these vehicles on the road anytime soon, but it’s an up-and-coming luxury car that you’ll want to keep tabs on.

6. Canoo

While most electric vehicle manufacturers have focused almost exclusively on the consumer market, Canoo is taking a different approach by focusing more on the commercial side of things. They’re open to preorders on a few different vehicle options, and so far, Wal-Mart, Zeeba, and Kingbee have all placed orders.

The vehicles have a surprisingly affordable price tag, but there’s no denying that they look completely different than anything else you’ll find on the road today. They’re going to have a 28-minute charge time to take the vehicle from a 20 percent charge to an 80 percent, and that’s a good thing since most of their vehicles only have about a 200-mile range.

7. Fisker

With its headquarters in Anaheim, California, Fisker automotive is another California electric car company pushing out new vehicles in 2023. The company expects to release some of its Ocean models in the second quarter of 2023 and to ramp up production from there.

The Ocean has a maximum range of 350 miles with the hyper-range battery, and the SUV can take you from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.6 seconds.

Other Fisker vehicle options include the Pear and Ronin, but you shouldn’t expect them to start production any time soon.

8. Genesis

While all the other companies on our list only produce electric vehicles, Genesis is a newer automotive company that produces both traditional gasoline-powered vehicles and two all-electric vehicles.

Their all-electric vehicles are the Electrified G80 and the Electrified GV70, which start at $79,825 and $65,850 respectively. Interestingly enough Genesis first formed as a brand in 2003, but it took them quite a while to ramp up production and because of this they’re still not one of the best-known automotive companies.

9. Polestar

Polestar

Polestar is probably the most established electric vehicle manufacturer on this list, but since they’re still ramping up production and deliveries you might not have seen too many on the road just yet. They delivered 50,000 vehicles in 2022, and they’re looking to top that number in 2023.

Currently, there are two Polestar vehicle models, the Polestar 2 and the Polestar 3. The Polestar 2 is a sedan in the mid-range price category, while the Polestar 3 is an SUV that starts at just under $90,000.

They have strong Chinese roots, but they’re opening up several production facilities in the United States and there are Polestars on the road in the EU too.

10. Sono

Sono

While the Sono was supposed to start production of the Sion in 2023, the company failed to crowdsource enough funds for the project. Because of this they canceled the Sion, and we’re not quite sure when to expect an electric vehicle from the company in the future.

Sono is a unique electric vehicle company in that they plan to put solar panels on all its vehicles. It’s a novel concept since it would allow your car to charge while you’re driving it, but there are some technological bugs Sono is still working out.

Sono is a company you’ll want to watch for the future, but it doesn’t look like they’re going to push any cars into the US or European market anytime soon.

The automotive industry is changing, and with so many new manufacturers cutting their teeth with electric vehicles, one thing’s for sure, in a few years, the automotive world is going to look a lot different than it does today.
