There is no defensible worldwide ranking of the ten best-selling motorcycles without fixing the market, period and measure. The motorcycles below are therefore evidence-backed segment leaders: some topped a UK registration category in May 2026, one led Australia’s Adventure Touring retail category in 2025, and others posted manufacturer-reported worldwide deliveries in 2025. They are not ranked against one another.
That distinction matters when you shop. A monthly registration winner may be a very different proposition from a model with the highest annual deliveries inside one manufacturer’s range. Use the result, geography and evidence type shown for each motorcycle as the starting point, then check current specifications, pricing and dealer support in your market.

How to read “dominates its segment”
“Best-selling” only has meaning when the market and period are named. A registration is a motorcycle recorded by a licensing authority; a retail figure is a sale reported through a market channel; a manufacturer delivery is a unit shipped or handed over by the maker. Those measures answer different questions.

The 10 motorcycles with the clearest segment evidence
1. BMW R 1300 GS: UK adventure leader, with global scale behind it
MCIA recorded the BMW R 1300 GS as the UK’s best-selling adventure motorcycle in May 2026. Separately, BMW Motorrad reported 32,555 R 1300 GS deliveries worldwide during calendar 2025. The two figures should not be merged: one is a single-month UK registration result, while the other is a manufacturer-reported global delivery total.
Together they show why the GS is a consequential benchmark in the adventure class, not that it won every adventure market worldwide. BMW’s 2025 global number includes all markets and does not provide a like-for-like comparison with competing brands’ audited totals.
2. BMW R 1300 GS Adventure: the high-volume long-distance variant
BMW reported 33,570 R 1300 GS Adventure deliveries worldwide in 2025, making it the higher-volume of BMW’s two R 1300 GS variants for that year. BMW described the GS and GS Adventure as its two highest-volume models in its January 15, 2026 results release.

This is evidence of strong worldwide demand for BMW’s more touring-focused adventure format. It is not a claim that the GS Adventure outsold every rival adventure motorcycle, because comparable global competitor totals are not established on the same basis.
3. Yamaha Ténéré 700: Australia’s Adventure Touring retail leader
Yamaha Motor Australia identified the Ténéré 700 as Australia’s best-selling Adventure Touring model in 2025, citing FCAI figures. The statement appears in Yamaha’s January 2026 release.

- Wide Compatibility: The coaster has a diameter of 3.15 inches and a height of 1.18 inches, which is widely used in most vehicles, such as SUV, sedan, MPV, etc., as long as the size fits your car cup holder.
- Protection Function: Our car cup holder coaster has a carry handle design and a stand-up ring edge on its edge to effectively prevent food crumbs, drinks and water from leaking out and preventing the car cup holder from getting dirty.Meanwhile,Thickened design effectively prevents the cup holder from being scratched by the cup when driving on bumpy roads and eliminates the annoying thumping sound, making your journey more enjoyable.
- Easy to Use and Clean: With embedded installation, you just need to put it flat on the car cupholder. It is also very quick to remove, there is a small bump on the coaster, pinch it and you can easily remove the coaster. It is very easy to clean, rinse with water or wipe with a wet towel (be careful not to clean with sharp tools).
- 100% Satisfaction: Our products have quality assurance, if you have questions or are not satisfied after receiving the product, don't worry, please contact us as soon as possible, we provide after-sales service.
Yamaha also notes that FCAI members are the only brands reporting Australian retail numbers. Treat the result as a category ranking within that reporting system, not as a census of every motorcycle sold in Australia. The Ténéré’s importance is practical: it sits between road touring and dirt-road travel, so buyers should evaluate wheel sizes, suspension travel, fuel range, luggage capacity and dealer support for the exact model year sold locally.
4. Yamaha MT-07LA: a local naked-bike benchmark
In Yamaha Motor Australia’s 2025 retail summary, the MT-07LA ranked first among Naked models. The same release placed the MT-09 fourth and MT-03LA fifth, showing a Yamaha range appearing at several points in one Australian category rather than a global naked-bike sweep.
“LA” identifies the Australian-market variant designation. Confirm the local specification, licence restrictions, equipment and model-year changes before comparing it with an MT-07 sold elsewhere. Yamaha’s result is a retail ranking based on FCAI data, so it should be read separately from UK registration tables and BMW’s worldwide delivery figures.
5. Honda GB 350 S: UK modern-classic and middle-capacity leader
MCIA listed the Honda GB 350 S as the UK’s best-selling Modern Classic motorcycle in May 2026. It also led the 126–500cc displacement band that month. Both are UK monthly registrations, not annual sales and not worldwide deliveries.
The two category placements explain its quiet strength: the bike appeals to the style-led modern-classic audience while also sitting in a large, accessible capacity band. If you are considering one, compare insurance groups, learner-licence rules, seat height, passenger provision and the cost of scheduled servicing in your country rather than assuming the UK result transfers directly.

6. Honda CB 125 F: the UK Naked-category winner
The Honda CB 125 F topped MCIA’s UK Naked category in May 2026. That result is a registration count for one month. It does not mean the CB 125 F was the UK’s largest motorcycle across every category, nor that it led the 51–125cc band; MCIA listed the Honda PCX 125 as that displacement-band leader.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →For a 125cc commuter, the buying questions are usually more important than a sales label: whether the local licence permits the output, how practical the standard equipment is, how easy parts and servicing are to obtain, and whether the bike’s dimensions suit daily traffic.
7. Lexmoto LXR 125: a road-sport leader in one UK snapshot
MCIA’s May 2026 UK table placed the Lexmoto LXR 125 first in the Road Sport category. This is a narrow, clearly defined result: one month, one country and one registration category.
Road-sport styling can make a small-capacity motorcycle look like a larger machine, but specification checks remain essential. Verify the current engine output, standard safety equipment, warranty terms, service network and parts availability for the exact UK model year. A category registration lead does not establish long-term reliability or ownership cost.
8. BMW R 1300 RT: the UK Touring-category leader
The BMW R 1300 RT led MCIA’s Touring category in the UK in May 2026. Because Touring is separate from MCIA’s Adventure definition, the result illustrates how “dominance” changes when the intended use changes: a road-focused touring motorcycle can lead its class even while another BMW leads Adventure.

- Buyer's Guide: The seat guard for car seat between seat & console measures 15.75*2.7*1.53", suitable for gaps of 1.43-1.53" in width, please double-check carefully the distance between your seat and the center console before placing an order

- Avoid Items Slipping: With the bumps and vibrations of the car, phones, keys may fall into the seat crevices, which is difficult to pick up, and distracts the driver's attention. Car gap seat filler fills gaps seamlessly to create an effective barrier
- Easy to Install: Car side seat gap filler is easy to install, simply insert it into the gap between the seat and the center console, gap seat filler for car can fit tightly without affecting the normal adjustment of the seat and the use of the seat belt
- Premium Material: Crafted from premium EVA material, our car seat side gap filler boasts a combination of wear-resistant, softness&durability. Maintenance is effortless, simply rinse and wipe to quickly clean the dust and debris in corners and crevices
Touring buyers should compare wind protection, two-up ergonomics, luggage capacity, payload, electronic rider aids and service intervals. Check the permitted payload with accessories fitted; panniers, top boxes and passenger equipment can materially reduce the remaining carrying capacity.
9. Honda PCX 125: scooter and small-capacity leader
MCIA listed the Honda PCX 125 as the UK’s best-selling Scooter in May 2026 and as the leader of the 51–125cc band. Those two registrations are from the same monthly UK snapshot.
A scooter’s useful advantage is often packaging rather than headline performance. When comparing the PCX 125 with another urban model, check under-seat storage, wheel size, weather protection, fuel capacity, seat height, braking equipment and the availability of trained local service technicians. Urban demand can make a model popular in registrations without making it the right choice for motorway or long-distance use.
10. Ducati Multistrada: Ducati’s strongest family in 2025
Ducati reported 13,873 Multistrada-family deliveries worldwide in 2025, making Multistrada the most popular motorcycle family in Ducati’s range. For context, Ducati reported 10,606 Panigale-family deliveries and 5,814 Scrambler-family deliveries in the same release, published by Ducati Media House on January 22, 2026.

Other signals worth knowing before you draw a global ranking
Aprilia’s sports-bike position in Europe
Piaggio Group said Aprilia held 13% of Europe’s faired sports-bike sales in 2025. In the same 2026 results release, the company described the RS 660 as one of Europe’s best-selling sports bikes and Italy’s best seller, while reporting strong RS 457 sales. These are company-reported claims; they do not create a neutral, all-brand European league table.
Yamaha’s broader Australian share
Yamaha Motor Australia reported a 27.6% share of Australia’s total retail market across motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and side-by-side vehicles in 2025, plus a 17.2% share of the road motorcycle category, citing FCAI data. The 27.6% figure is not motorcycle-only, so it must not be used as a motorcycle market-share number. Yamaha executive Matthew Ferry attributed the result to the company’s customers, dealers and staff; that is an executive comment about Yamaha’s performance, not an independent market assessment.
Honda’s forecast is not a verified result
Honda’s January 2025 business briefing forecast 20.2 million global motorcycle unit sales for fiscal 2025, approximately 40% of worldwide motorcycle sales. It was a forecast in that briefing, not a verified final result, so it should not be used to rank individual Honda models or to calculate a completed global market share.
How to compare a segment leader with your alternatives
Start with motorcycles that serve the same job in the same market. A UK monthly registration leader should first be compared with other UK models in that category, not with an Australian retail leader or a manufacturer’s worldwide delivery total.
| Comparison axis | What to verify | Why it changes the decision |
|---|---|---|
| Intended use | Commuting, touring, passenger travel, road sport or off-road riding | Determines whether the category label matches your actual routes |
| Purchase price | Current local list price, registration, delivery and accessory costs | Promotional or market-specific prices can make old comparisons misleading |
| Weight and seat height | Ready-to-ride mass and the seat-height range for the exact trim | Affects low-speed confidence, parking and handling |
| Range and luggage | Tank capacity, realistic fuel planning, payload and fitted luggage limits | Important for touring and two-up use |
| Maintenance | Service intervals, valve-check schedule, consumables and labour rates | Purchase price alone does not show ownership cost |
| Dealer and parts access | Nearest authorised workshop, parts lead times and warranty support | Availability can outweigh a small specification advantage |
| Local availability | Current model year, emissions version, licence classification and stock | Names and equipment can differ by country |
A verification checklist before buying
- Define the market and use case. Write down your country, licence category, typical roads, annual mileage and whether you carry a passenger.
- Open the current official product page. Confirm the model year, engine specification, standard equipment, colour availability and safety features for your market.
- Price the complete motorcycle. Add taxes, registration, freight, luggage, protection parts and any required licence or training costs.
- Check fitment before ordering accessories. For a Ténéré 700, search for “Ténéré 700 accessories,” “adventure touring luggage” or “motorcycle protection accessories,” then verify the exact model year and retailer stock. The same fitment check applies to BMW R 1300 GS accessories.
- Confirm support locally. Ask a dealer for service intervals, warranty conditions, recall status and typical parts lead times.
- Compare like with like. Keep registration data with registration data, retail data with retail data and manufacturer deliveries with manufacturer deliveries; label the month or year beside every number.
Common mistakes when interpreting motorcycle sales claims
- Turning one month into a yearly verdict: May 2026 UK registrations do not establish the UK’s full-year winner.
- Mixing geographies: An Australian retail leader cannot be directly ranked against a UK registration leader.
- Calling a family result a model result: Ducati’s 13,873 Multistrada deliveries cover the family, not necessarily one trim.
- Confusing company reporting with independent measurement: Yamaha, BMW, Ducati, Honda and Piaggio Group figures should be attributed to those companies and read with their stated scope.
- Assuming popularity equals suitability: Sales do not tell you whether a motorcycle fits your height, roads, passenger needs, budget or local service network.
- Using outdated specifications: Model names can remain while equipment, emissions compliance, pricing and availability change by year and country.
What these 10 examples actually show
The strongest conclusion is not a universal top-ten order. It is that different motorcycles lead when the measurement is made precise: BMW’s GS variants have substantial worldwide delivery volume; the Ténéré 700 led Australia’s reported Adventure Touring retail category; Yamaha’s MT-07LA led Australia’s Naked category; several Hondas and the Lexmoto LXR 125 topped narrowly defined UK registration classes; the BMW R 1300 RT led UK Touring; and Multistrada was Ducati’s best-performing family.
Use those claims as evidence of segment strength, not as a substitute for a current, local buying comparison. The motorcycle that dominates a chart may still be the wrong machine for your licence, roads, body size, passenger, luggage needs or dealer access.
