The list ranks vehicles by iSeeCars’ reliability rating, which focuses on useful lifespan and the likelihood of reaching 200,000 miles—not on a guarantee that a particular model year will be trouble-free.
Here are the ten models in the order shown by iSeeCars, followed by what the ranking does—and does not—tell a buyer.
How this ranking measures reliability
This ranking follows iSeeCars’ category and longevity methodology for luxury midsize SUVs. The company describes its reliability rating as an analysis of useful lifespan and the likelihood of reaching 200,000 miles or more, based on an analysis of over 312 million vehicles. Its current 2026 page lists a category average of 7.6/10. These scores are iSeeCars’ measure, not a warranty, a prediction for every model year, or a promise that an individual SUV will reach a particular mileage. See iSeeCars’ 2026 luxury midsize SUV reliability ranking.
Other dependability studies answer different questions. J.D. Power’s 2026 Vehicle Dependability Study surveyed 33,268 original owners of 2023 model-year vehicles about problems experienced in the preceding 12 months; fieldwork ran from December 2024 through November 2025. It reported an industry average of 204 problems per 100 vehicles (PP100), two more than in 2025, and 56.7 PP100 for infotainment, the most problematic category. A lower PP100 score indicates higher vehicle quality. Those findings describe three-year owner-reported problems, not expected vehicle lifespan. Read J.D. Power’s 2026 study release.

For a separate award signal, J.D. Power’s 2025 awards list the Lexus GX as the Midsize Premium SUV winner for the 2022 model year. That recognition is not the same measure or ranking as iSeeCars’ list. See J.D. Power’s 2025 awards and study information.

The Lexus GX 550 and GX 460 are different models
Both GX entries score 8.2/10 on the iSeeCars page, but the GX 550 ranks first and the GX 460 second; iSeeCars gives the GX 550 the higher overall score. They represent distinct generations, so a buyer should identify the exact model year and vehicle rather than treating “GX” as one uniform reliability record.
Rank #3
A ranking is not a model-year report
The iSeeCars list does not provide a year-by-year reliability breakdown for all ten vehicles. Actual reliability can vary with model year, drivetrain, maintenance and the condition of the specific vehicle. Use model-year-specific information when comparing candidates, particularly if you are buying used.
Absence from the top ten is not a poor result
iSeeCars’ page names other models, including the Lexus TX 350 and Genesis GV80, among vehicles not in this top ten. Their absence from the ranked list does not establish that they are unreliable; it only means they are not among the ten shown in this particular ranking.
Rank #4
Consider the vehicle’s layout and ownership costs
Choose based on the exact space and use you need as well as the ranking. The BMW X6’s crossover-coupe shape, for example, trades some passenger and cargo space for styling. Compare the relevant model year’s seating, cargo capacity, warranty coverage, service needs and likely repair costs before deciding; the reliability order alone does not compare those factors.

How to check a used luxury SUV before buying
- Confirm the exact vehicle. Record its model year, trim, drivetrain and mileage, then seek reliability and maintenance information specific to that configuration.
- Review available records. A vehicle-history report may show information such as reported damage, maintenance, mileage anomalies or open recalls. CARFAX describes these as possible report contents, not guaranteed complete records. Learn what a CARFAX vehicle history report may include.
- Arrange an independent inspection. Have a qualified mechanic inspect the vehicle before purchase. A history report cannot establish the car’s full condition, and a diagnostic code reader is only a limited aid—not a substitute for inspection.
- Compare the specific SUV with your needs. Check condition, service history, passenger and cargo space, warranty coverage and ownership costs alongside its place in a broad reliability ranking.
