10 Leftover 2025 Vehicles That Could Become Great Deals

A large share of leftover 2025 inventory does not guarantee a bargain. These 10 vehicles are worth targeting—but only after you verify local supply, days in stock, equipment, incentives, and total ownership cost.

The best leftover-2025 targets are not necessarily the most expensive vehicles. They are the vehicles with a large amount of prior-model-year inventory, newer 2026 examples already arriving, slow local turnover, or only modest differences from the newer model. In the right market, that combination can give you negotiating leverage on a new vehicle that is still covered by its original warranty.

The strongest mainstream candidates are the 2025 Kia Niro and 2025 Volkswagen Taos. The 2025 Land Rover Discovery and several high-priced luxury SUVs may offer more dealer flexibility, but depreciation, financing, insurance, and maintenance can erase a large apparent discount. Toyota 4Runner and Subaru Outback buyers should be more selective because resale strength can limit discounts.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

There is an important qualification: the inventory percentages below come from an iSeeCars national listing snapshot collected November 22–30, 2025, not a live August 2026 census of every dealership. Treat this as a shortlist of vehicles to investigate—not proof that a discount exists at your local store.

What makes a leftover 2025 vehicle a real deal?

A leftover vehicle is a new vehicle from the prior model year that remains unsold after the newer model year has begun reaching dealers. The model-year label alone does not make it a bargain. A recently delivered 2025 vehicle may have little negotiating pressure, while a 2025 unit that arrived months ago, has changed hands between dealer lots, or has been used as a demonstrator may be much more negotiable.

ACDelco Gold 48AGM (88864541) 36 Month Warranty AGM BCI Group 48 Battery
  • High density negative paste, improves performance and increases battery life
  • Enhanced life alloy or Silver Calcium stamped alloy increases cycle life and improves performance
  • Calcium lead positive grid, maximizes conductivity and allows for low resistance
  • Robust envelope separator with puncture resistant back, allows for increased acid circulation and prevents shorts. Improved acid circulation, helps the battery to remain cool, and extend battery life
  • Vent cap design that resists acid leakage

The most promising situation has four parts:

  • 2026 inventory is already present. The dealer has a reason to make room for older stock.
  • The exact vehicle is aged. Days in stock, arrival date, and in-service date matter more than the model’s national leftover percentage.
  • The 2025 and 2026 vehicles are closely matched. A small equipment or powertrain update should not cost you thousands in lost value.
  • The discount survives the entire transaction. Fees, financing, add-ons, insurance, depreciation, and maintenance all belong in the calculation.

A useful decision rule is:

2025 advantage = out-the-door savings versus a comparable 2026 vehicle − value of the 2026 updates − expected extra depreciation and ownership costs.

If that result is not clearly positive, buying the newer model—or a lightly used example—may be smarter even when the 2025 vehicle has a lower advertised price.

The 10 leftover 2025 vehicles worth checking first

iSeeCars analyzed more than 2.6 million new-vehicle listings during its November 22–30, 2025 research period. To measure leftover inventory, it required a model to have at least 10% 2026 inventory, then calculated what share of qualifying listings remained model year 2025. The figures below are national sample results. The reported prices are average prices in that sample, not guaranteed transaction prices, MSRP figures, or current local prices.

Vehicle 2025 share of qualifying inventory Reported average price Deal profile
2025 Lexus GX 550 87.8% $81,291 High leftover share, but strong demand can limit discounts
2025 Lexus LX 600 83.9% $117,757 Potential leverage on aged ultra-luxury stock
2025 Kia Niro 80.8% $31,914 Accessible mainstream target; compare powertrains carefully
2025 Volkswagen Taos 80.6% $30,796 Shop multiple dealers for aged or unpopular configurations

1. 2025 Lexus GX 550

Why it is interesting: The GX 550 had the highest leftover share in iSeeCars’ SUV table, with 87.8% of qualifying listings still carrying a 2025 model year. Its reported average price was $81,291.

The GX is expensive inventory for a dealer to carry, so a 2025 example that has been sitting for months may justify a serious offer—particularly if the store has 2026 GX vehicles arriving or already on the lot. Unpopular colors, low-demand trims, and vehicles with unusually long dealer tenure are the best targets.

Why it may not be a fire sale: The GX is a desirable off-road luxury SUV with strong brand appeal. A high national leftover percentage does not guarantee that a dealer will discount a desirable local configuration. Compare the exact 2025 vehicle with an equivalent 2026 unit, and ask for each vehicle’s days in stock before negotiating.

2. 2025 Lexus LX 600

Why it is interesting: The LX 600 recorded an 83.9% 2025-inventory share, with a reported average price of $117,757. At this price, every month a vehicle remains unsold ties up a substantial amount of dealer capital.

An aged LX can therefore offer more negotiating room than its prestige suggests. The opportunity will probably be trim-specific and dealer-specific, however. Luxury dealers may have only a handful of qualifying vehicles, so a high percentage can be produced by a relatively small inventory sample.

What to calculate: A nominal discount can disappear through interest charges, insurance, depreciation, and expensive options. Compare the discounted purchase with a 2026 equivalent, a certified used LX, and available lease programs. Focus on the total cost—not just the reduction from the window sticker.

3. 2025 Kia Niro

Why it is interesting: The Niro had an 80.8% remaining-2025 share and a reported average price of $31,914. This is one of the most consumer-friendly candidates because a moderate discount at a mainstream price can make a meaningful difference to the monthly payment.

Weize Platinum AGM Battery BCI Group 24F Automotive Battery, 120RC, 710CCA, 36 Months Warranty, Dimensions 10.75" L x 6.81" W x 8.98" H
  • ✅Batter dimensions: 10.75" L x 6.81" W x 8.98" H, Terminal: Tapered terminal (Left negative (-), Right positive (+)). ✅Please ensure to verify the dimensions and terminal position before making a purchase to guarantee compatibility with your vehicle to avoid any fitment issues.
  • With a 70AH capacity and 710 cold cranking amps (CCA). Provides reliable performance and long service life, Up to 2 times the cycle life of conventional batteries. If your car's original battery is an AGM type, you must continue using an AGM battery, as your car will not accept a "downgrade" to a flooded battery. Nominal Voltage:12V. Charging Voltage:14.4~15.0V. Acceptable Charging Current:0~21A. Operating Temperature Range: -22°F~158°F.
  • Heat / Cold Resistance: The materials used in the construction of AGM batteries (such as glass fiber mats and specialized separators) have better heat resistance. This allows AGM batteries to maintain their performance and capacity even in the hottest climates, They are also more resistant to extreme temperatures, making them ideal for hot or cold regions.
  • Low Self-Discharge: AGM batteries have lower self-discharge rates compared to flooded batteries. Self-discharge refers to the loss of capacity that batteries experience over time when not in use. In hot climates, when the battery may need to be stored for extended periods or not frequently used, AGM batteries can better maintain charge, providing higher voltage output and easier engine start-up in any climate.
  • Enhanced Safety: AGM batteries have a lower risk of acid leaks and spills compared to flooded batteries. This is because the acid is absorbed and held within the glass fiber mats, reducing the risk of corrosion or damage to surrounding components, this makes AGM batteries more durable and long-lasting, is also two to three times longer than flooded batteries. AGM batteries also have a lower risk of explosion and are safer to handle, making them ideal for high-performance vehicles.

Before comparing prices, separate the Niro’s different powertrains. A conventional hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and EV are not interchangeable products. They can differ in equipment, operating costs, charging requirements, incentives, and tax treatment. Compare like for like, including battery size and trim.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best target: A 2025 Niro with the equipment you actually want, a verified arrival date several months in the past, and a written out-the-door price that is materially below a comparable 2026 vehicle.

4. 2025 Volkswagen Taos

Why it is interesting: The Taos had an 80.6% remaining-2025 share and a reported average price of $30,796. A compact SUV with a high prior-year share can be a practical negotiation target, especially when a dealer has several examples or an unpopular color and equipment combination.

Obtain written out-the-door quotes from several dealers rather than negotiating from one advertised price. Compact-SUV inventory can vary sharply between metropolitan areas, and a nearby dealer with fewer 2025 units may have less incentive to negotiate than a store with several older examples.

Check before choosing the older model: Compare the exact 2025 and 2026 equipment, powertrain calibration, warranty terms, safety features, and current incentives. Do not give up a meaningful update merely to receive a small discount.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. 2025 Toyota 4Runner

Why it is interesting: Conventional-fuel and hybrid 4Runner listings combined for a 79.0% 2025-inventory share, with a reported average price of $57,171. A broad trim and powertrain mix can leave specific configurations behind even when overall interest in the 4Runner remains healthy.

The best opportunity is a vehicle that is aged, poorly matched to local demand, or less desirable than the newest configuration. That might mean negotiating on a 2025 unit with equipment you do not need, provided the price reflects the compromise.

Why expectations should be moderate: Toyota trucks and SUVs often retain value well. iSeeCars’ 2026 resale analysis identified trucks as the strongest-retaining major segment and Toyota as a prominent strong-resale brand. That resale strength can limit dealer discounting and reduce the gap between a leftover 2025 and a 2026 model.

6. 2025 Land Rover Discovery

Why it is interesting: The Discovery had a 75.8% 2025-inventory share in the leftover-SUV sample. A separate slow-selling analysis based on CarEdge data reported 216 days of market supply and 1,664 examples on lots in its snapshot.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That combination—high prior-year inventory, luxury pricing, and slow turnover—creates a credible case for dealer flexibility. A buyer who finds a genuinely aged example may be able to negotiate more aggressively than on a high-demand mainstream SUV.

Mighty Max Battery MM-H6 Start and Stop Car BCI Group Size 48 12V 70 AH, 120RC, 760 CCA Rechargeable AGM Car Battery
  • Fast Starting Power: This 12V 70Ah 760 CCA delivers strong, steady starts is ready for any weather in any season.
  • Made to Last: With its 120-minute Reserve Capacity supports longer run times and a longer overall battery lifespan.
  • All Power, No Mess AGM Design: Sealed and spill-proof, the MM-H6 is built with high discharge output and deep discharge recovery to keep power steady when it counts.
  • Strength That Starts on the Inside: The rugged construction resists shock, vibration, and harsh conditions, delivering reliable performance across a wide range of temperatures and tough environments.
  • Tested Tough & Certified Safe: Mighty Max batteries are built in an ISO-certified facility and meet CE standards for quality, safety, and reliability

The discount must compensate for ownership: Luxury-vehicle depreciation, maintenance, insurance, reliability history, and warranty coverage can overwhelm the initial savings. iSeeCars has noted that luxury vehicles generally depreciate faster than comparable non-luxury vehicles. Compare purchase and lease economics, verify the remaining warranty, and estimate insurance before calling the vehicle a bargain.

7. 2025 Porsche Macan

Why it is interesting: The Macan recorded a 67.8% 2025-inventory share and a reported average price of $106,947. High-ticket inventory and an aged, unpopular specification can give a buyer meaningful leverage.

Specificity matters. Look for an example with long dealer tenure, an unusual color or option package, or equipment that makes it less attractive than the vehicles currently being ordered. Compare its price with new 2026 inventory, certified used Macans, and lease programs.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not mix products in the comparison: Gas-powered Macan and electric Macan inventory should be evaluated separately. Powertrain, charging needs, equipment, incentives, residual value, and ownership costs can differ substantially. A discount on one is not automatically a bargain relative to the other.

8. 2025 Subaru Outback

Why it is interesting: The Outback had a 66.1% 2025-inventory share and a reported average price of $41,612. The model-year transition and arrival of newer inventory could make a well-equipped 2025 attractive when the newer model brings only incremental changes.

Do not assume that every 2025 Outback is old stock. Confirm the delivery or arrival date and distinguish a recently delivered vehicle from one that has spent months on the lot. Subaru demand and resale strength can also limit discounts in some regions.

The comparison to make: Identify the value of any 2026 changes—equipment, safety technology, powertrain, styling, or warranty differences—and require the 2025 discount to exceed that value. The right 2025 Outback can be a good value; a lightly discounted one may not be.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

9. 2025 Ford Explorer Hybrid

Why it is interesting: The Explorer Hybrid had a 62.3% remaining-2025 share, with a reported average price of $52,881. Hybrid variants can accumulate when buyers favor other Explorer powertrains or trims, giving a dealer with several older hybrids more reason to negotiate.

Verify whether the 2025 hybrid is still offered and supported in your local market. Compare fuel-economy ratings, towing specifications, equipment, warranty coverage, and the 2026 powertrain lineup. A hybrid’s higher purchase price only makes financial sense if your fuel savings and expected ownership period justify it.

Keep the vehicle discount separate from financing incentives. A low advertised APR may require terms that change the price, and a cash discount may not combine with promotional financing.

Verify that the battery type and specifications match your vehicle's requirements.

10. 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC plug-in hybrid

Why it is interesting: The GLC plug-in hybrid recorded a 62.0% 2025-inventory share and a reported average price of $78,149. Plug-in hybrids can be slower to move when shoppers are uncertain about home charging, premium pricing, incentives, or how much electric driving they will actually do.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This is a specialized opportunity, not a universal recommendation. It makes the most sense for a buyer who can charge regularly and intends to keep the vehicle long enough to benefit from the powertrain. Confirm the battery warranty, included charging equipment, current incentive eligibility, and any 2026 powertrain or equipment changes.

Never assume that a tax credit, lease incentive, or manufacturer rebate applies. Eligibility can depend on the buyer, vehicle, purchase or lease structure, income, location, and transaction date.

Other slow sellers worth cross-shopping

Not every slow seller belongs in the main ten. The main list is based primarily on leftover 2025 inventory, while the following vehicles were identified in a separate 2025 market-day-supply analysis. They can be useful comparison targets if you are open to a different model, but market-day supply is an indicator of potential leverage—not a guaranteed discount.

Vehicle Reported market supply How to use the signal
Audi S6 482 days Check aged high-performance luxury inventory and lease pricing
Audi A6 409 days Compare remaining warranty, depreciation, and replacement-model details
Volkswagen ID.4 297 days Verify charging hardware, battery coverage, and current EV incentives
Audi Q4 E-Tron 271 days Compare electric range, equipment, charging, and lease programs
Jaguar F-Pace 239 days Demand a discount large enough to address depreciation and support concerns
Nissan Murano 234 days Check whether the vehicle is an outgoing design or has meaningful updates
Ram 2500 233 days Compare engine, cab, payload, towing equipment, and regional demand
Porsche Taycan 229 days Compare used examples, battery coverage, charging, and lease residuals
Kia EV6 217 days Check incentives, charging equipment, battery warranty, and model-year changes
Land Rover Discovery 216 days Use slow turnover as leverage, but account for ownership costs

The reported days-of-supply figures are a snapshot, not a promise that every listed vehicle has been unsold for that exact number of days. They also should not be confused with the percentage of remaining 2025 inventory in the main list.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Discontinued 2025 vehicles may offer another kind of leverage

Discontinuation can create a deal opportunity when a dealer wants to clear a vehicle that no longer has a direct future-year replacement. iSeeCars listed the following vehicles as discontinued as of 2025:

  • Acura TLX
  • Alfa Romeo Tonale Hybrid
  • Audi A4
  • Audi Q8 E-Tron
  • BMW X4
  • Cadillac XT4
  • Cadillac XT6
  • Chevrolet Malibu
  • Dodge Hornet
  • Infiniti QX50
  • Infiniti QX55
  • Jeep Wagoneer
  • Kia Soul
  • Lexus RC 350
  • Mercedes-Benz EQB

A discontinued vehicle can be compelling if you want its exact configuration and the discount is substantial. It can also carry trade-offs: different resale behavior, a less direct replacement, changes in parts or service strategy, and lower future buyer awareness. Discontinued does not mean parts instantly disappear, but you should ask about warranty support, service availability, and likely replacement-model differences before buying.

How to prove that a leftover vehicle is actually a deal

  1. Search by VIN, not just model and year. Dealer inventory pages can show duplicate listings, vehicles that have been transferred, or units that are technically active but no longer available. Save the VIN and stock number, then confirm that the vehicle is physically at the dealership.
  2. Ask for three dates. Request the vehicle’s arrival date, in-service date, and current days in stock. The in-service date is particularly important because it can affect when the factory warranty began. Ask whether the vehicle was a demonstrator, loaner, test-drive unit, or dealer service vehicle.
  3. Compare identical equipment. Match trim, engine, drivetrain, battery or hybrid system, packages, wheels, safety features, destination charges, and included charging equipment. A low price on a less-equipped vehicle is not a true model-year comparison.
  4. Demand an itemized out-the-door quote. The quote should separate vehicle price, dealer discount, manufacturer incentives, financing conditions, trade allowance, documentation fee, protection products, dealer add-ons, taxes, registration, and any transport charge. Do not let a large trade allowance conceal an inflated vehicle price.
  5. Inspect stored-inventory wear. Check the tires for uneven wear and aging, inspect the paint and seals, look for interior wear inconsistent with mileage, and verify that all electronics, driver-assistance systems, charging equipment, and keys work. Ask the dealer to document the pre-delivery inspection and any battery replacement or maintenance.
  6. Check recalls and service campaigns. Have the dealer run the VIN through the manufacturer’s system and confirm that open safety recalls and applicable campaigns will be completed before delivery. Ask for the written repair history if the vehicle was used as a demonstrator or loaner.
  7. Compare at least three dealers. Include dealers outside your immediate area when the savings justify it, but subtract transport, travel, inspection, and registration costs. A remote deal is only better if the final delivered price remains lower and you have a clear remedy for undisclosed damage or missing equipment.

Useful items for a permitted pre-purchase check

A professional pre-purchase inspection remains the best protection, especially for an expensive luxury vehicle or a car that has been used as a demonstrator. With the dealer’s permission, a basic OBD2 scanner can identify some stored powertrain and emissions codes, but it cannot detect every mechanical, electrical, accident-related, or software problem. Do not treat a clean scan as a substitute for an inspection.

A digital tire pressure gauge is useful for checking whether an aged vehicle has been stored with badly incorrect pressures. A 12-volt battery tester can provide an additional indication of battery condition on vehicles that have spent a long time on a lot, although the dealer should normally deliver the vehicle with a properly tested and functioning battery. Hybrid and EV high-voltage systems require appropriate professional procedures; a consumer tool is not a substitute for them.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use total cost, not the advertised discount

Before signing, place the 2025 and 2026 options in the same worksheet. Record each vehicle’s out-the-door price, interest rate, loan term, estimated insurance, fuel or electricity cost, warranty coverage, expected depreciation, maintenance, and likely trade-in value.

A $5,000 discount on a $100,000 luxury vehicle may be less valuable than it appears if the older model depreciates faster or carries a higher financing cost. Conversely, a smaller discount on a $32,000 Niro or $31,000 Taos can have a larger effect on the buyer’s budget because it represents a meaningful share of the vehicle’s price.

Before contacting dealers, a vehicle-value calculator or depreciation estimate can help you compare the leftover 2025 with a 2026 model and a lightly used alternative. Use more than one valuation source and treat all forecasts as estimates. The purpose is not to predict an exact future trade-in value; it is to prevent a large sticker discount from hiding an unusually weak resale position.

A practical negotiation script

Once you have a specific VIN, ask the salesperson for the arrival date, current days in stock, in-service date, demonstrator status, complete equipment list, and an itemized out-the-door quote. Then make your offer on the vehicle price rather than discussing only the monthly payment.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A straightforward request is: Please send the buyer’s order for this VIN with the dealer discount, every manufacturer incentive and its eligibility requirements, taxes, fees, add-ons, and financing assumptions shown separately. I am comparing it with an equivalent 2026 vehicle and will make a decision based on the final out-the-door price.

If the dealer will not provide those figures, move to another store. A high leftover percentage is useful only when it helps you locate a real unit and negotiate transparently.

Important limits on the data

The iSeeCars leftover-inventory study is a late-November 2025 national listing snapshot. It does not establish how many 2025 vehicles remain at a particular dealership now. Inventory percentages can also be distorted by low-volume luxury models, trim mix, geographic differences, duplicated listings, and vehicles that are technically advertised but not realistically available.

The Drive Match August 2026 market-day-supply framework is useful for thinking about current inventory pressure, but its visible ranking is primarily about 2026 vehicles. It does not, by itself, prove how many 2025 units remain. Current incentives, interest rates, battery warranties, tax treatment, and dealer stock must be verified at the time of purchase.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For that reason, the correct language is could be a deal or worth targeting, not will be discounted. The winning vehicle is the one with an aged local unit, a transparent buyer’s order, no expensive hidden condition, and a discount large enough to beat the newer or lightly used alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a leftover 2025 vehicle always cheaper than a 2026 model?

No. A dealer may price a 2025 aggressively, but current incentives, financing programs, equipment differences, and local supply can make a 2026 vehicle equally attractive. Compare identical trim and equipment using out-the-door prices.

Which leftover 2025 vehicle is the best value for most buyers?

The 2025 Kia Niro and Volkswagen Taos are the most accessible candidates by reported average price, but the best choice depends on powertrain, equipment, local supply, and the actual discount. A high leftover percentage alone is not enough.

How old should a leftover vehicle be before I negotiate harder?

There is no universal cutoff. Ask for the arrival date and days in stock, then compare the vehicle with newer inventory. A 2025 unit that arrived months ago generally gives you a stronger negotiating argument than one delivered recently.

Should I buy a discontinued 2025 vehicle?

You can, if you want its exact configuration and receive a discount that compensates for depreciation and any replacement-model differences. Confirm warranty, service, parts support, open recalls, and future resale considerations before buying.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Start with the 2025 Kia Niro, Volkswagen Taos, and any genuinely aged GX 550, LX 600, Discovery, or other candidate on this list. Search by VIN, verify the vehicle’s history and condition, compare it with an equivalent 2026 model and a lightly used alternative, and insist on an itemized out-the-door quote. The best leftover deal is not the one with the biggest advertised markdown; it is the one whose all-in savings remain after financing, depreciation, fees, insurance, and ownership costs.
