The Hyundai IONIQ 9 is a three-row electric SUV with seating for up to seven, an 800V charging system, and a flexible cabin. Hyundai Motor Europe’s figures include up to 620 km of WLTP range for a specific long-range rear-wheel-drive configuration; equipment and specifications vary by market and trim. Here are 10 features that matter in everyday use.
1. Three rows with flexible passenger and cargo space
The IONIQ 9’s long wheelbase and three-row layout are designed to carry up to seven people. The tradeoff is cargo room: Hyundai Motor Europe lists approximately 338 L behind the third row, 908 L with the third row folded, and 2,419 L with both rear rows folded. The largest figure is for cargo with those rows out of passenger use, not luggage space available while all seats are occupied.
Hyundai Europe lists a 3,130 mm wheelbase, with overall dimensions of 5,060 mm long, 1,980 mm wide excluding mirrors, and 1,790 mm tall. These are European-market technical figures.
2. A large battery and up to 620 km of claimed range
Hyundai Europe’s technical data lists a 110 kWh battery; its charging page specifies 110.3 kWh. The long-range rear-wheel-drive version on 19-inch wheels is listed at up to 620 km WLTP. That is a test-cycle figure, not a guarantee of real-world distance. Wheel choice, configuration, weather, speed, terrain and use of cabin heating or cooling can affect actual range.

Hyundai’s European specifications distinguish three powertrain configurations:

3. High-power DC charging for travel stops
Hyundai Europe says the IONIQ 9 can accept up to 350 kW of DC charging and estimates a 10–80% charge in 24 minutes under suitable high-power charging conditions. That is a manufacturer estimate, not a fixed stop time: the charger’s available output, battery temperature, starting charge level and other conditions affect charging performance. A station rated at 350 kW does not guarantee the car will charge at that rate throughout a session.
4. Compatibility with 400V and 800V charging infrastructure
Hyundai describes the IONIQ 9’s system as supporting both 400V and 800V charging technology. That flexibility is intended to make it usable across charging infrastructure with different voltage levels. It does not mean every compatible charger delivers the same speed; actual performance still depends on the station and charging conditions. Hyundai Europe’s technical data also lists 11 kW AC charging, a separate consideration for home or destination charging.

For home charging, an AC wallbox must suit the local electrical supply and the vehicle’s connector and market specification. Installation requirements should be confirmed with a qualified local electrician.
5. Vehicle-to-Load power for external equipment
Hyundai says the IONIQ 9’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature can supply up to 3.6 kW through an onboard 230V socket or the exterior charging port. It can provide power for compatible equipment, but availability and any required accessories may depend on the trim and market. Check the exact vehicle specification before relying on V2L for a particular use.
6. Six USB-C ports rated for up to 100W
Hyundai lists six USB-C ports across the three rows, each described as capable of up to 100W. That gives passengers in different rows access to high-power device charging. The rating should not be read as confirmation that all six ports can supply 100W simultaneously.
7. A curved dual-screen cockpit
The dashboard combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen in a curved display arrangement. The screens bring driving information and infotainment together visually; the layout alone does not establish how easy the interface is to use in practice.

8. A sliding Universal Island 2.0 console
The Universal Island 2.0 center console slides 190 mm and, according to Hyundai, can be accessed from both the front and second row. Its movement and dual-sided access give front- and second-row occupants a shared storage and console area. Check the trim specification in your market to confirm its inclusion.
9. Connected features for trip planning and remote control
Hyundai Europe lists route planning with charging stops, remote climate controls, Digital Key 2 and over-the-air updates. Together, these features can support EV trip preparation, cabin preconditioning and remote access. Availability can depend on the country, connected-service subscription, phone compatibility and vehicle specification; verify what is enabled for the exact local-market vehicle.
10. Driver assistance and remote parking tools
Listed systems include Surround View Monitor, Blind-Spot View Monitor and Remote Smart Parking Assist 2. The first two provide visual assistance around the vehicle; remote parking assistance is intended to help with parking maneuvers. These systems do not replace the driver’s attention or responsibility. Availability varies by trim and region, so consult the local equipment list rather than assuming they are standard.
Other equipment to check by trim
Hyundai Europe describes additional features, including a UV-C sterilizer that it says sanitizes everyday items in about 10 minutes. That is a manufacturer feature description, not evidence of a health benefit. The GLS, TOP and Calligraphy trim equipment differs, so use the country-specific configurator or build sheet to confirm which amenities are included.

What to verify for your market
- Range and wheels: Confirm the powertrain and wheel configuration behind the local WLTP figure.
- Charging: Check local AC and DC specifications and the connector used in your market.
- Equipment: Confirm V2L, driver assistance, connected services and cabin features on the exact trim.
- Towing: Hyundai Europe lists maximum braked trailer weights of 1,600 kg for RWD and 2,500 kg for AWD variants. These are European figures; confirm local homologation and the vehicle’s approved towing limit before choosing a trailer.
