The list includes nine Toyota/Lexus powertrain entries and the 2027 Kia Sportage Hybrid. U.S. assembly does not mean every part is American-made: Kia says its U.S.-assembled vehicles use both U.S. and globally sourced components, and Toyota does not publish domestic-content percentages for this list.
The 10 U.S.-assembled hybrids and PHEVs
The comparison below uses the evidence manufacturers provide for assembly plant, powertrain and production timing. HEV means a conventional hybrid that is not normally charged from an external outlet; PHEV means a plug-in hybrid.

Why model year matters for the Kia Sportage Hybrid
Kia says 2026 Sportage Hybrid vehicles were built in Korea. Production moved to Georgia for the 2027 Sportage Hybrid, beginning in June 2026. Therefore, a vehicle advertised simply as a “Sportage Hybrid” cannot be assumed to be U.S.-assembled; confirm the model year and the individual vehicle’s identifying information.
HEV versus PHEV in this list
Conventional hybrids (HEVs)
The RAV4, Camry, Grand Highlander, Highlander, Sienna, TX Hybrid, Tundra, Sequoia and 2027 Sportage entries are HEVs. Their batteries recharge through the vehicle’s hybrid system and regenerative braking rather than a household or public charger.

Plug-in hybrid (PHEV)
The Lexus TX Plug-in Hybrid is listed separately because its PHEV powertrain can be charged from an external outlet. The available manufacturing evidence establishes its Indiana assembly, but it does not establish electric range, charging time, fuel economy, pricing or operating cost. Those specifications vary by model year and configuration and should be checked in current Lexus materials.
What “made in America” does—and does not—tell you
Final assembly is the verifiable common denominator. It does not establish that the engine, battery, transmission or other components were made domestically, nor does it indicate U.S. ownership of the automaker. Toyota’s facility information identifies the plant and powertrain status but does not provide a vehicle-by-vehicle domestic-parts percentage. Kia expressly describes U.S.-assembled vehicles as using U.S. and globally sourced parts.

Toyota reports more than 34 million cars and trucks assembled across 11 U.S. manufacturing facilities. That is a cumulative, company-wide figure—not a count of hybrids and not a domestic-content measurement.

- Check the model year. This is essential for the Sportage Hybrid because 2026 and 2027 production locations differ.
- Confirm the exact powertrain. A model name can cover gas, HEV and PHEV versions; make sure the window sticker identifies the hybrid variant you intend to buy.
- Use the VIN and window sticker. Manufacturer model-family lists do not guarantee that every trim or VIN came from the same plant, especially during production transitions.
- Ask the dealer for the vehicle’s build information. Inventory can include vehicles produced for different markets or earlier model years.
Valid alternate: Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid
If you want 10 distinct model nameplates rather than counting the TX HEV and TX PHEV as separate entries, Toyota also lists the Corolla Cross, including its HEV, at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing USA in Alabama. It is a suitable substitute for one TX powertrain entry.

- Kia Sportage PHEV: Kia’s assembly announcement covers the 2027 Sportage Hybrid but excludes the PHEV, so U.S. assembly is not established here.
- Kia Sorento HEV and PHEV: The same Kia material excludes both versions.
- Kia Telluride Hybrid: The available plant information does not establish a U.S.-assembled 2027 hybrid, so the hybrid cannot be inferred from the non-hybrid Telluride’s production history.
What the evidence does not establish
These manufacturing sources do not provide a like-for-like comparison of purchase price, EPA fuel economy, cargo volume, towing capacity, battery size, electric range or current inventory. Those figures require current, model-specific specifications and may differ by trim, drivetrain and model year.
