The standout examples range from Hennessey conversions of Ford and Ram pickups to Mercedes-Benz’s factory-built G 63 AMG 6×6. Their makers quote huge power and eye-catching dimensions; those claims are not a substitute for independent, head-to-head off-road testing.
What makes a truck a 6×6?
In the trucks covered here, “6×6” means six wheels are driven across three axles. That distinguishes them from a six-wheeled vehicle whose extra axle is not powered. The additional driven rear axle is the defining change, but the implementation varies: Hennessey’s examples are conversions of existing pickups, while Mercedes-Benz documented the G 63 AMG 6×6 as a special model with portal axles and five locking differentials.

More wheels and a more elaborate drivetrain make for an extraordinary-looking truck, but the available specifications do not establish that one model is categorically more capable than another. The performance, traction and utility claims below are attributed to their makers.
Ford-based Hennessey 6×6 trucks
Two Hennessey names are easy to confuse: the Gen 3 VelociRaptor 6×6 announced in 2022 and the Raptor R-based VelociRaptoR 6×6 announced in 2023. They use different F-150 foundations and engines.

VelociRaptoR 6×6: the Raptor R conversion
Hennessey’s April 2023 release describes a conversion based on the Ford F-150 Raptor R. It retains the Raptor R’s supercharged 5.2-liter V8; Hennessey states output of 700 bhp and 640 lb-ft. The conversion adds a second locking rear axle, an 8-foot (2.4-meter) bed, 20-inch wheels and 37-inch tires.
Hennessey quoted a starting price of $499,999, including the base Raptor R, and a warranty of three years or 36,000 miles. Those are figures in the company’s 2023 announcement, not confirmation of a current price or offer. Founder and CEO John Hennessey called the package “practical and functional” and a “go-anywhere supertruck”; that is the company founder’s promotional view, not an independent assessment. Gen 3 VelociRaptor 6×6: the earlier Raptor conversion
The earlier Gen 3 conversion, announced in September 2022, is based on the Ford F-150 Raptor—not the Raptor R. Hennessey specified a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, with 558 bhp and 672 lb-ft. Its announced starting price was $399,950 including the base Raptor. These are the company’s 2022 figures; they should not be applied to the later, supercharged-V8 Raptor R conversion. Ram-based Hennessey Mammoth 1000 6×6
The Mammoth 1000 6×6 starts with a Ram TRX rather than a Ford. In its 2022 production announcement, Hennessey claimed 1,012 bhp and 969 lb-ft, and gave the truck’s length as 283 inches (719 cm). The company said it would limit production to 12 trucks per year and quoted a starting price above $449,950, including the base Ram TRX.

Those are manufacturer figures from the announcement, not independently audited comparisons or evidence of present-day inventory. Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6×6: a factory special model
The G 63 AMG 6×6 differs from the Hennessey trucks because Mercedes-Benz documented it as a special model rather than a tuner conversion of a Ford or Ram pickup. Mercedes-Benz Japan’s 2014 release describes six driven wheels, portal axles, five locking differentials and a system to adjust tire pressure across all six tires. The release gives output as 544 PS (400 kW).

Another custom-builder option: Apocalypse Manufacturing
Apocalypse Manufacturing presents a range of custom 6×6 trucks and says the brand is sold exclusively through SoFlo Customs. Its homepage points prospective buyers toward technical specifications, but the material available there does not establish a current price or inventory for any specific truck. Check the builder or its stated sales channel for model-specific details rather than assuming all Apocalypse builds share the same equipment or availability. Apocalypse Manufacturing
What the headline size and extra axle do—and don’t—tell you
These trucks stand out through their three-axle layout, proportions and, in some cases, added equipment such as a longer bed, locking differentials or portal axles. But the headline figures describe different things: the Mammoth announcement gives overall length, while Hennessey lists an 8-foot bed for the Raptor R conversion. Neither figure alone establishes payload, towing capacity, maneuverability or comparative off-road performance.
No independent head-to-head test is established by the cited releases. Treat statements about traction, speed or off-road dominance as manufacturer claims unless a separate, comparable test supports them. Likewise, a builder’s stated production limit or a region-specific allocation is not a verified total count of all 6×6 trucks built.
