The lowest-priced SUVs in iSeeCars’ 2026 subcompact-SUV affordability ranking start at $20,550. Its ten entries run from the Hyundai Venue to the Honda HR-V, but these are advertised starting-price figures—not guaranteed dealer quotes or a ranking of what every buyer will pay. Prices can differ by source, fees and location, so use the list as a shortlist and confirm current manufacturer pricing before shopping.
10 cheapest SUVs by iSeeCars’ 2026 starting-price ranking
The table reproduces iSeeCars’ published 2026 subcompact-SUV list, ordered by listed starting MSRP. The ranking page says it uses the lowest trim’s starting price and also factors in its overall iSeeCars score. Its prices may use different inclusion rules from other publishers’ figures.

These are iSeeCars’ listed 2026 starting prices, not transaction prices. The ranking notes that local supply and demand can push a vehicle above its starting MSRP. Check the iSeeCars 2026 SUV ranking and subcompact-SUV ranking for its methodology and list.
Why published starting prices may not match
Starting MSRP is a comparison point, not an out-the-door quote. A manufacturer’s advertised base price may exclude destination and handling, taxes, title, license, options and dealer charges. Kia’s U.S. SUV pricing disclosure, for example, says its starting MSRP applies to the lowest trim, excludes those costs and that actual dealer price may vary (Kia U.S. SUV page).

There is also a notable difference between two published 2026 figures: iSeeCars lists the Venue at $20,550 and the Trax at $21,700, while an Associated Press report on May 27, 2026, citing Edmunds, gives $22,650 for the Venue and $23,495 for the Trax. The available explanations do not establish why the figures differ, so do not treat them as interchangeable. Check current manufacturer pricing and ask a local dealer for an itemized quote. Hyundai’s indexed model page also showed a $20,550 2026 Venue MSRP and excluded freight and other fees, but the direct page was not available to verify in this review (Hyundai Venue page).
How to choose beyond the lowest price
Every vehicle in this shortlist is a subcompact SUV. A low entry price can mean a smaller vehicle, so start with your passenger and cargo needs rather than assuming every model will fit the same way. Then compare the costs and features that affect your specific use:

- Drive configuration: Check whether the trim you want is front-wheel drive (FWD) or whether all-wheel drive (AWD) is available. The cheapest trim may not offer the configuration you need.
- Fuel use: Compare EPA estimates for the exact model and drivetrain, then account for your own driving. Estimates are not a promise of real-world fuel economy.
- Purchase fees: Ask for a written, itemized out-the-door price that includes destination, taxes, registration and dealer-installed options or charges.
- Ownership costs: Include insurance, fuel, maintenance and expected resale or residual value. iSeeCars specifically advises buyers to look beyond purchase price at these factors.
Two examples: Venue and Trax
In the Associated Press’s May 27, 2026 report of Edmunds’ assessment, the Venue is described as having no AWD option and an EPA-estimated 31 mpg combined. The Trax is described as FWD-only, with EPA estimates of up to 30 mpg combined. Those estimates and equipment details are specific to the models discussed; they do not establish the same figures for the other eight SUVs. AP also reports Edmunds’ overall scores of 6/10 for the Venue and 7/10 for the Trax. Treat those as Edmunds’ evaluations as reported by AP, not as a universal measure of which one is best for your needs (Associated Press report, May 27, 2026).

- Pick a realistic budget. Decide what you can spend out the door and monthly, rather than setting the budget from the listed MSRP alone.
- Shortlist for fit. Compare passenger and cargo space, drivetrain and the trim’s equipment against your daily needs.
- Verify current pricing. Check each manufacturer’s current model and trim page for availability, fees and incentives; then request an itemized local quote.
- Compare total ownership. Get insurance estimates and consider fuel, maintenance and resale value before choosing the lowest-priced offer.
Model availability, trim names, incentives, destination charges and local prices can change. The iSeeCars list is a dated 2026 editorial ranking, not an official manufacturer price list or a guarantee that a particular trim is available in your area.
